This button is a tough one to research, I didn’t find any info on Adams Brand but I have found buttons of this design dating back to the early 1900’s.
looks like a stud or snap button from a coat or overalls...good luck!

I looked in all my books, and couldn't find any mention of it. I also searched the net, but to no avail. So, I sent a photo of your button to my go-to button expert, Carol, to see what she had to say about it.

Here is her reply:

"There are a lot of the old brand name work clothing/overall buttons that are not documented in the NBS booklet. Then we go by how it's constructed compared to the others to get a round-about age range but learning much about these brand names is all but impossible now far as I can tell. Many of these were garments made by offshoots of the larger textile manufacturing firms like Carters, Carhartt, Burlington and others of the time. The look of this one would put it in the 20-30's range in my opinion but figuring much about the company names on these except those firms that made it through the depression and continued on even producing garments today is pretty much lost to time.

Oh, just occurred to me, the reason you don't find this one in the NBS booklet that shows a lot of these types is they focus on pictorials, yours is considered a "verbal" and I never noticed one of those booklets giving any background on the brand names on the buttons, just sorting them by age and desirability of the pictorial design which tells us pictorials are the more collectible types with verbal being the least collectible types.

I date those from the early to mid 1900's.

Thanks so much guys ....i looked a little on the net for some info ...I knew some of y’all would know something... i think y’all nailed the date down pretty good ....where I found it is all woods now but in the 30s and 40s it was all plowed fields.you can still see all the terraces that were in the fields .., have only found a old axe head, piece of ox shoe and some big bolts in the area. Thanks again !!!!!
