I went to the ASO show on Sunday to enter my Antler Drift I found last year in the "best of the year" contest, which I lost to a Granite Cone unfortunately. I did pick up a few items while I was there though. I got some pieces from Indiana, a nice Quartz Point from Virginia, a salavaged Bannerstone, a couple mini Pin Drills, and a really nice Metate.

I changed the lighting on the first picture of the Banner to show the scratch marks from it being made. You can see where they ground down the broken edge.

All the the pieces on the left of the first picture are from Indiana

Nice additions , that banner is really cool . What do you think all the scratch marks on it as well as other pieces like pendants that have them ? Just decoration / art work to make it personal to the maker or you think for a different reason ?

Nice items. Sorry your drift did not win. I like how they scored items to a certain depth for polishing. Even on highly polished items you can still see the grid marks under magnification.

That "Winged" banner was bad adze when it was whole. I guess it was repurposed into a pendant. Darn nice metate too. All nice items to add to any collection.

I think that banner broke in half and they drilled it to lace it back together. I've seen lots of slate "repaired" like that. Gary

That is true Gary, they did do that to broken Banners to repair them as this one shows that very thing. But I'm pretty sure the one up top has been salvaged and then used as a Pendant.

This piece was found near Hillsboro by two brothers. It was found in two pieces and they glued it back together. They told me if they ever found the missing piece I could have it.
