Ace 250
Yesterday I was hunting a play ground and all of a sudden my 250 started making every noise it could make as well the bars were flashing back and forth. I thought maybe the battery level had gotten too low but it showed ok and then I thought I might be close to some buried electrical lines but I was in the middle of the playground. Then i heard my ceel phone ringing ing my pocket and that was what set it off. Is this unusal or has anyone else had this happen?

I leave my cell phone turned off for a reason........it's like "DO NOT DISTURB" :tongue3: Of course if I need to talk to someone , I just turn it on and dial. I survived my first 50+ years without a cell phone, and I am not going to let a cell phone ruin a good day detecting for the remaining years.

Cell phones and detectors don't play well together. Cell towers or other users can mess things up too, so don't wrap the detector around a tree yet. I carry my cell turned off and don't want to be bothered till I am done playing Indiana Jones.

Just make sure the voice mail is set up and turn the sucker off.

when you are trying to do stuff a cell phone is a lot like a two year old in your pocket anyway.
deal with it later.

I detect with my right arm and put the ol' celly in the left pocket. Never had any problems. Besides the hubby starts worrying that I've fallen into some hole and died or that I finally found my 'buried treasure' and am never coming home! :tongue3:

I'm stupid stupid stupid..... You have now idea how many perplexing looks of mine this statement just answered.

I could go into great detail and a good handful of stories about why am I getting funny noises sometimes... I'm slapping myself silly for not figuring this concept out by myself.

Stuipd GIB STUPID! :tard: :tongue3:

I bet lots of folks would like to hear about this fine revelation in the General thread...

Yesterday my ACE was acting funny...it was too cold for it!! I need to get a cozy to keep it warm I think. Maybe that was part of your problem..don't know where you hunt.

I hunt in Chattanooga but it still gets cold here(27 this morning). When its this cold, I put hand warmers inside the battery compartment(tip from TN). Might want to try it.
