Detector(s) used
EXPLORER SE and an ACE 250
I"m new to the Ace 250 but have been detecting with other machines. I have only used the Ace 3 times but it seems to ID coins wrong when they are over 5 inches. I've dug maybe 15 coins that the machine said 1 thing but the coin was not what it ID. Usually it read dime but I found pennies or once in awhile I dug quarters. It also reads dollar quite a bit. I have not dug up the dollar reads because it was happening far to often.

I have really good success with clad at a trashy area where people gather and build bonfires, which is nearby the ghost town.

SantafeNM, if you are finding clad, then you will eventually find silver if it is there. The same way you can dig a quarter at 4 inches, you may very well find a silver dime at 2 inches. That's just the way it works. There is no telling how deep the silver will be. Some people think silver is deep......that is not the case. I've went out and dug like 200-300 clad coins before running into something silver. Sometimes less. Bottom line is, if your detector is working and your digging those coins, it's only a question of time. Try different areas to hunt and see how it goes there. It's where you don't think there might be something that something sometimes turns up. I highly recommend any old park. Picnic table grounds and around large trees is where I have had better luck in parks. Don't give up.......push ahead.

The only reason you haven't found silver is either your coil just hasn't passed over any or you aren't digging all the hits in the silver range...Silver tones are awesome on the Ace250...Yep, you WILL dig a lot of junk, but anybody who doesn't is passing up some great finds. I will guarantee that regardless of the type of machine they are swinging.
