Ace 250 or Ace 350

I'm ready to get another detector but not sure what to do. The Ace 250 is a proven favorite, but I'm leaning towards the 350 for a few reasons. I like the fact that it is a higher frequency machine as I mainly search for jewelry. I also like the fact that it comes standard with a DD coil. It's about a $90 difference between the machines from Kellyco. I usually hunt the beaches here in Southern California and in the mountains here as well. I can't afford a AT Pro (waterproof I know), so I need something economical. I am also going to buy my wife a Tesoro Compadre. Any input, advice, or opinions on the differences between the 250 and the 350? Also any good opinions of the Tesoro Compadre? Thanks

Call Bart at BigBoysHobbies.net He will give you the best package deal along with super fast shipping. Aside from that he will give you straight advice. His packages don't include unwanted crap either.

I own a Ace 250 and I loved it. It took me a bit to lern it but once I did it was a coin hound. I only found a cpl rings but then again I only used it 3 months before I bought my ATPro. In three months i found over $130 in clad.

Yea that machine is/was sure popular. I kinda wonder why the Ace 350 isn't becoming as popular as the 250, or is it just too soon to tell.

I think people tend to save a little more and get the AT Pro over the 350. It's a lot more detector for the dollar.

I think most people are either trying to go as cheap as possible for a quality machine(250) or they are willing to pay 500 or 600 bucks for the AT Pro so that leaves very limited sales for the 350...However, after using and seeing the DD coil operate on my ATP , my stepdad is going to order a DD coil for his 250. So u would be better with the 350 in my opinion if u think u will upgrade the coil on the 250. The DD coil really helps most people with pinpointing and seperating close targets in trashy or congested areas. But i do believe that the 250 is the best MD u can buy for the money....really a great machine with Garrett quality and good depth...

Also, i will agree with RobRieman....I love my AT and if not out of your price range....u would be very happy with it.

I really would like the ATP but I just don't have the money for it right now. My wants a detector too, so I need to go cheaper on mine to be able to get one for her too. I like the DD the 350 has and I think you right that people that go as far as thinking of the 350 might as well wait and get the ATP but I just can't afford it right now. Any experience with the 350 anyone?

All the choices mentiond I think are good upgrades, just curious have you ever thought of mayb goin used there are alot of people who think thst If they buy a high end machine basically treasure coins & gold will cine to them & when they find thats not true & it actualy takes time & work that machine finds its way on fee Bay or craigslist u may b able to find a high end for a quarter of what it actually went for with warrenty to check it out & good luck with ur pick

Yea I actually thought of that too. I'm going to stop by a detector shop that's about an hour away and check the units out too. They have all three there. Craigslist and eBay are great for good finds used.

Ya i think u got the best idea If u can physically try out especially the detectors ur looking at to see actually in person which one fits u best definetly the way to go, good luck

Try them anywhere you want but it you don't buy from Bart at BigBoysHobbies.net you will wish you did. Also many vendors don't include headphones with their detectors. I am pretty sure Bart does, I know he does with his ATP package.

I would be very skeptical of anything on EBAY or Craigslist.

All detectors will find coins and jewelry. The most important thing about any detector is you have to learn what it is telling you and that takes time and a trained ear.

If u do ur research & learn who ur buying from craigalist aint that bad ive bought & sold alot on there as in eBay to look at there sellin reveiws how long been selling etc & I do agree Bart is an awesome vendor but theres a reason the other guys have been on here just as long, like detectors its just a matter of choice ive heard good about all, imean If they were really that bad I dont think the mods would keep em I could be wrong but mayb not look at there reveiws aswell

The higher frequency on the Ace 350 helps with iron discrimination. The small difference in price between the Ace250 and Ace 350 is a good value- you get the larger DD coil and the Garrett Easy Stow headphones. I'd consider getting your wife the Ace 250-, than you will both have units that have the same modes and target information. Give me a call if I can help you in your decision.

Don't waist your money on 350 if you say hunting on the beach .the 350 not good in wet sand .my advise jump to AT PRO then you don't have to feel that you need another upgrade

I own a pair of 350s
When I started with them after a 150 the DD coil was the best noticeable difference right away.
At the time the AT Pro was new enough there were bugs on occasion.
Normsel is right.Much success based on users knowledge of unit.
I have pulled finds left by ATPros and other units users they would have liked. Sure i,ve left finds too.
I like the unit. But would not recommend it for beach hunting. As to mountain soil and if a 350s auto ground balance can handle it thats beyond my knowledge.
A respected dealer going to help here. I too am pleased with Bart.
An ATPro gold worth a look were i hunting California.Out of what you want to spend range detector that suits your desired use and area well worth budgeting and delayed gratification, as it involves the right tool for the right job.Good luck and hunting.

Hi hobby, I don't have the $ to get the ATP though. Any other suggestions for $300 or under on a sand machine?

I didn't know that the $ is the problem , in that case the 350 will do great on dry sand .
