I asked a similar question in the general discussion forum but did not really get the awnser that I was looking for.

How many people has found silver coins with their ace 250, or 150 and about what depth was it found at, not according to the meter, but buy actual measurement, or a logical guess.

And has anyone found any silver, or gold Jewelry.

Thanks

I find silver all the time, well most of the time. It's usually around the 3-6 inch mark but can be found at surface and as deep as you wanna dig it all deepends on allot of circumstances. If your not finding silver then it's most likely your experience or research which is lacking. No offense intended. ;)

Yes, I need to do more research, and I have several hours, but I'm haveing trouble locateing the older sites. I do know of afew places, acouple still has the old well house's and thats alls left, you know the kind people used to wind water with. I just have not been to them, because they are reletives, and grumpy poops. haha

Just was wanting to know what to expect. And I have found many intesting things, and about $6.00 in clad, just in a couple so so places.

Thank

I find silver rather regularly, as well as gold jewelry (unfortunately the latter is usually just cheaper kids stuff because of where I find them). As far as depth goes, I found a silver dime at what I would've considered the depth limit of around 8 or 9 inches, using the Sniper coil on the 250. This Florida sand/soil helps a lot, though, so I seem to get pretty deep no matter what.

And as far as research goes, I research a lot, but keep in mind also that those older places have no doubt usually seen other detectorists over the past couple of decades whether you may think they haven't or not. One of my favorite old home sites that I like to go to had a fellow MD'er the other day when I drove up to the lot. I've never seen anyone detect this site before, and I find stuff almost everytime I go, and so was he. Now I just need to get my weedeater out there so that I can get into the scrubby brush area around those big old trees! I've had my share of rattlesnakes and water moccasins to last for a while, thank you very much :) And also remember, that those old sights could very well have had relic hunters at them even before they were there with metal detectors (I used to do the same thing back when I was in my younger teens when looking for Civil War stuff and didn't have a MD.

Never give up, at least your always going to be finding something more than you would be if you sat at home just thinking about it or watching TV! And you will eventually find something worthwhile, especially if you do research and go off the beaten path every once in a while. Some of my best hunts have been in the woods and fields, where you'd not expect to find anything!

i no longer use my ace 250 but i found some of my best silver with it. anywhere from just under the surface to 6 inches or so.

Like hollow, I no longer use the 250, but it has found me silver from the surface at less than an inch down to almost 7" on a dime. Most came from the 3-4" mark and most of what I find today with the Explorer comes from that depth as well.

You bet! If your coil gets over silver it WILL beep. The problem is getting your coil over silver!

My ace 250 finds silver quarters, dimes, nickles and rings no problem. By the
way all the silver coins that I found are Canadian. It works very well.
Good luck.

Here's some of the silver I've found with the Ace 250

Good work guys, I'll keep looking, and hopefully get permission to hunt afew places I been thinking of. And I think I have the MDing bug, already wanting another detector, too bad I cant afford one huh. Guess I'll be haveing to part with something to trade up a notch.

I've found a couple of silver, out of 500+ coins dug. One was a Mercury dime, found in my neighbor's yard, at about three inches of depth. The other was a war nickel, found at about the same depth, maybe four inches or so. It's true, that location is important. I also found an Indian Head penny at about five inches. I was ready to give up on the signal, and there it was. Laying at the top of my hole.... Then I found two wheaties in the same hole. My detector was giving all kinds of mixed signals. It was definitely worth digging.

Stay with it. Don't give up. Listen to what the Ace is telling you. And dig, dig, dig. Over time, you will become very adept at interpreting what the Ace is saying. You have a good machine!

I have found a silver quarter, 2 silver dimes, several war nickels and a gold ring. All less than 4" in depth. I've only been hunting since March.

I've found silver with our Little Yeller Feller.

Persistence is the key!
If your coil doesn't ass over it, you can't dig it.

I have not dug coins as deep as some others have stated.
Mine generally range to 4-5", with the occasional 6" quarter.

Update to my earlier post. I have found several silver coins this year. The oldest being an 1882 Morgan Silver Dollar. I also found a 1945 Walking Liberty Half Dollar, as well as a couple of silver Roosevelt dimes, and a Mercury dime . The Ace has been turning up silver rather regularly lately!!

HH,

Dr. Ace

update mine too...I've found 2 barber dimes, about 10 mercs and some other silver rosies!!! They keep coming too...

I found a 46' silver dime a couple of months ago in a school yard's sandy playground. It was about 8 inches.

Also found a silver brooch with fake diamonds in it.

Here's that 46' dime I was talking about. She really was breathtaking at 6 inches down. Long live the ACE!!

Found this half at about 4 inches with my ACE 250. The ring was 2" and damn near blew my ear off and the scorpion was about an inch.

Learn those videos that came with your 250 and follow their instructions. Things will come out of the ground after a while.

1. Go where people dropped silver (research, research).

2. Go often

#. Dig everything
