Yep buckles!

Only white westerners could mistake a common and revered foreign cultural form for a buckle. That's OK I've met several people who were wearing beautiful pre Colombian "antique" bead necklaces until I pointed out the brown spots were from long decaying human corpses. Sometimes ignorance can be bliss.

I want to see the belt that "buckle" came from. :laughing7:

It's a Chinese ceremonial scepter or wand. The proper name is a Ruyi. I've handled a lot of the older and more valuable ones and your example is not jade, valuable nor old.

The one you show in your post is a tourist piece or a party favor. It appears to be made of bone but more than likely it's resin. To see if that's the case heat a pin to red hot and touch it to an inconspicuous spot on the piece. It will probably melt a little and smell like burning plastic.

Cool! I learned something today! The figurine on it looks like Chai Sen Yeh - Bringer of Wealth. I will speculate that this was a tourist decorator item and the knob mounted it on a plaque or pedestal. Possibly a Feng Shui piece which was wildly popular in the late 20th C.
