I am about to purchase a new machine to replace my stolen xlt.It was one of the first models put out 12-13 years ago or so.I know technology has advanced and machines are going deeper right outta the box but is there a big depth difference between the xlt and dfx on coins?

I am sure that opinions will vary and that with proper use of a machine you can squeeze every inch out on depth but I figure if there is no big difference I can save about $200

My hunting consists of coin shooting and a bit of jewelry thrown in the mix.No purposely done relic hunting and vert seldom near a beach.

I have only used whites and fisher but am open to others thoughts on a hot coin machine..

I sell em for the same in my shop . I'D suggest you go to www.garrett.com and locate your closest dealer . You can go in and see how you like the unit and talk to someone that has used it . One thing you can't buy on ebay is hands on service and support . Give your local dealer your business because I guarantee you that they are most likely not in it to get rich . Usually they are detector buffs themselves .

Honestly the thing that hurts us dealers the most is to lose sales to the internet that we could have matched or beaten within a couple of bucks . I might also add I am always the nice guy and I'll teach the guy who bought his detector online how to use it , order him parts , or send it in for service .

Just IMHO .
