No, square footage of the roof, they do not know if I even have gutters or rain barrels, I guess they assume the rain run off goes into the sewer system, therefor I am charged for disposing of the rain? That is just one of the many fees for water. You should know that Oregon has become a suburb of Calif.

They charge you to dispose of it, yet I'd be willing to bet it's illegal to collect it.

perfectly good solution. go to your local elected board meeting and tell them you don't want to pay for things that you don't use. Like EMS, Fire Departments, schools, and the rest of the caboodle. Then do a spread sheet showing which ones you'll pay for and how much you'll pay. If your neighbors feel the same you'll be able to keep that dinero in your pocket. but I should warn you there are people out there that will claim an agriculltural exemption due to having one goat on a 5500 acre farmette. They hate those school taxes too.

Fl has 494,122 hotel rooms with occupancy at 69% in 2023 add $5 tax on each room per night is another $1.6 million per night, another $622,000,000 year. It is doable.
