I finally felt like posting after a couple month hiatus. I've been out detecting quite a bit but I don't post all my finds. This weekend I hunted an old home site that dates back to the 1800's and it was 2 miles from my house.

What is it? I'm pretty sure it's silver. It's roughly the size of a quarter.

A random insulator, no mark visible

Other than that I found some other random junk, 1950D wheatie, and 5 cents in clad. Good luck out there!

Welcome back, was a bit worried something bad happened to you in the urban woods... Cool piece of history with the old property owner name silver buckle thing. Nice whiskey token. Congrats!

Looks like you hit paydirt finding that silver buckle thingy with the owner's name on it. Now that's cool!:headbang: Way cool old relics too. You found a sweet spot and had a great hunt. More there for you I'd bet.:icon_thumright:

Haha thanks man, I seen you been doing very well too. I noticed you've also been hunting in Allegheny County. I seen your Nova find which is amazing.

I'm sure I'm not the first one to hunt it. Do you ever notice how much good stuff is under fallen trees. That buckle was almost missed because of a huge log almost on top of it.

Way to shove your coil into the nooks and crannies where others won't bother. I stick my coils under shrubs, in rocks and every where I can get it. Nice recovery.

Thanks man, I found a silver ring earlier this year the same way. Smart minds think alike, the hardest spots to search often produce keepers for sure.

That is so cool,, name of property owner on map,, name of property owner on silver buckle.
Congratulations

What a great hunt !!! Congrats !! Love the pin, token, lock and the Ford tag !

Nice silver buckle, very rare find, more so with the name on it!

I didnt think it was a big deal when I found it but now it's starting to sink in how unique/rare it potentially could be. I may have ended the year on that hunt since it's turning colder this week/month.

That silver piece is really killer, it would look good mounted, with the map behind it showing the same name. That is a special item. The other stuff is nice too... but something about personal engraving just gets me going.

Glad to see you posting. Good luck.

That's a great idea, thanks! I'll do that when I put a display case together.

Cool finds! Yes I would add the map to your display too.

Love the Kennywood Park topper. Brings back memories for me. My ex and I went on our second date there many moons ago. Also remember tubing down a big hill across the street with friends one winter. The hill is long gone ...additional parking for the park. If I would have been into the hobby back then, I would have hit the big hill for sure.

Where in Pittsburgh are you from. I hunt my mothers yard every time I visit.

The little silver buckle with the property owners name on it is very cool.
