A very odd penny

In a roll found a 1996 zincoln that has no copper wash. Not that its gone, it appear to have never been coated. Its noticeably thinner, smaller but very shiny and near mint.

Think an error like this is something I could get a few bucks for at my LCS?

Although there are lincoln cent coins out there that appear to be missing their copper colored coating, they are certainly rare.

There is perhaps a greater chance that it could be one of the following things:

1. Dipped in an acid to remove coating. This is more common than you could ever imagine. Why people do this? Who knows... too much time on their hands. This would also explain why it appears to be different in size.

2. Aged coin due to exposure to: Sunlight, rolled around in a dryer for a few years, etc....

3. Coated. Some do this too... why would you want to coat your lincoln cent? That's far beyond me... but some do it.

So, all that being said, it's more likely to be one of the above, HOWEVER, there is always that off chance that it's a true mint error such as missing the lamination coating.... or even rarer still, a lincoln cent punched on dime planchett.

Pictures sure would help.... but they really need to show the details of the coin.
