I don't normally post in this section but I thought some of you would like to see what was just found last week in Ms. We believe it is a tektite from the Chesapeake Bay impact crater. This week it will get tested by the state of MS. for its elemental signature by microprobe analysis. This impact zone threw hot glass over 7,000 miles and if it is a tektite it will be the first found in Ms. It is a gem grade piece of glass that has rolled down a ancient river for close to 2 million years and that made it round. received_1540499636090654.jpegreceived_467552510552587.jpegreceived_2665578530192148.jpeg

Hopefully it is, but how strange to be round...I'm thinking it's a worn marble. I have them in that color. But I'm hoping you have the real deal!

The finder thought it was a marble at first, but man made glass will frost from wear and weathering. It was found in a creek full of gravel, which rolling around in it for a million or so years could cause that and the holes in it are from the light acid in the soil. So say the expert's with the state.

Now that really cool wow

Very nice specimen! Congrats!!:occasion14:

Update we have been hooked up with a better group that will be happy to test it, NASA in Houston.
