I dug this at a 1800s home permission today after work. Ive dug Civil war relics and civilian items there. No clue what this is though. At first i thought it was a lead boxcar seal. Ive dug several at this location. But after looking at it better i dont think so. Looks like a clockface and I think its on 12:15. Any thoughts?

Looks to be made of zinc, doesn't look like lead to or pewter. :icon_scratch:
Probably dates to the early 1900s.

I've never seen one but prior to computers and advanced info systems trucks transporting Kosher meats used to have a time stamped seal on the doors of the reefer. So when the truck got to the destination and the doors were opened, the Rabi confirmed the time in transit and recorded the temp inside to confirm that it was likely the temp had been constant throughout the trip.

I think this is a very plausible idea. The property is right beside the tracks and the original owner back in the 1800s was the president of the railroad. And as i mentioned in my post i have dug at least 20 different boxcar seals over the last year or so.

The time on the clock is actually 3:03. If this was religious-related, it could have referred to John 3:03, where Jesus says that one must be born again. Just another possibility...cool find! Sub 8-)

It looked to me like the smaller hand was just past 12. I also wondered if the time shown has any significance.
