A successful day metal detecting.

What would you consider a successful day detecting? If I can find enough in value to cover my gas money I am happy. So for me it depends on how far I travel as to what I need to find to make my day successful. I would like to hear some of your thoughts.

I hunt very close to home...maybe a mile drive....so for me...any day I find silver is a good day. Days like today are real good. I scored 8 silver rosies in a school lot that I know has been hunted previously, though apparently not all that thoroughly.

Well, in the woods finding pretty much anything ?well i usually dont come back till i find at least one old relic.
In a park/beach i consider finding over 1.00 in clad and/or an old relic or jewelry.

If me & my DFX make it out of the garage, it's a success. That's why they call it detecting & not finding or recovering. If you're out there swinging the machine, it's a success. If you find something worth carrying home, it's a bonus.

Any day detecting is a good day. If I'm not swinging I'm reseaching a place to swing.
If I didn't have to work for a living I think I would find a lot more coins.

I consider it a success...

if I find something other than pennies with the memorial on the back and trash. If i find anything interesting, it's a success. I've never thought of it in a monitary way. I think that would make it too much like a job.

I can't wait until tomorrow... I get to swing my coil again!!!

I agree with some of the others here, any day detecting is a good day to me. I'm so busy all the time with work, and family, that I cherish any time that I get to go swing the coil. Yesterday my truck broke down on the way to work, so it looks like I'll be spending the weekend trying to fix it. Hopefully I can get it fixed today and have tomorrow for detecting!!

Thanks for the replies. I will drive about Forty miles round trip tommorrow to do some Civil War relic hunting. If I can find one or two bullets I will be a happy and would call that a successful day.

A good day detecting is when I find a coin or ring....ANY coin, and so far I've only found 1 little ring. Also, a good day detecting can be reading here on the forum, reading one of my books or manuals.

Course, I'm brand new to this, so just about anything to do with it is a turn on for me.
