I was recently granted permission for an old home via a web permission mission. I stopped in to meet the lady the other day and shoot the breeze. She was the kind of person who was friendly and quickly said "Have at it!". Awesome.

I pulled out a stunning PEI One Cent within the first five minutes. I wanted to get on her good side, so I offered it to her. She appreciated it. I figured there would be much more after that, but I ended up digging about 40 modern pennies... copper ring and such. :BangHead:

Oh well! The donation has secured me permission for the oldest farm in the area, that her friend owns.

I went back today and sniffed out a nice 1903 5 cent piece. I was hoping to see mint mark, but this one is empty.

1871 PEI One Cent. I'm hoping that future LC's found at this location look like this one.

Thanks, Argentium. Unfortunately there were many of them minted. :) Far too many for the population size of the island. I don't think it would be worth very much.

Beautiful Canadian Coinage. Love The Dark Green Patina On That Largie!

Right on Don and AT, thanks for the info. :)

Although not rare by any stretch of your imagination, they are rare coming from the growing like yours. They tend to be very corroded and ugly green, but in some instances they look good like that one and the fishscale is in remarkable condition, well done!

That was a very nice PEI cent, "maybe" one in ten or twenty are so nice, but don't dwell on handing it over, you already got the better deal with another property for your honesty, and generosity. Not to mention the Silver is way better, and I'm sure you'll come up with something else for sure.

Got to ask what do you mean by "web permission mission" (PM if you prefer)

Nice finds!

Right on, guys, ty. I won't lose sleep over it.

Rick, by web permission mission, I mean stumbling across a webpage of a farm, colonial bed and breakfast and such while you're researching, and then emailing them a nice request to do some detecting. I've had some good luck this way!

Most excellent coins... have quite a few of those PEI LC cents and only one in the same shape as yours...Congrats

RE mint mark, I just looked and actually be glad it don't have the "H" this coin is worth twice what it would be with it.

Great looking LC, and that was a nice one giving it to the owner. The little nickel is in great shape also, always nice to dig up.

Nice finds there Gio...I found a PEI down here in mass... Thought it was strange Cleaned up good like yours too.

Awesome, Brian.

Now I need to find a Mass. copper up here! :)

Great thread, I have had so many hunts where my best find is within five minutes of starting, I get all excited and three days later I'm still digging pull tabs, bottle caps, and beer cans.
Very pretty coins, nice finds, I'm sure you will find more, keep at it. HH
