A September to remember, EE's monthy thread

Well, tomorrow my first 2 Brinks half boxes of the month arrive. Hopefully they are kind to me. 26 boxes total this month when to comes to halves, hopefully I will pull close to average and make up for the purchases I had to make.

Since my hours have been cut at work for the next couple of months, I am going to start calling around to banks in the city and try to find some that will order me Ikes. Hopefully I can find one that will and hopefully it will be one I am a member of so I dont have to open up yet another account.

So.. hopefully this month serves me well, its been doing some good on the fishing :D

Well.. hrmmm...

Picked up my two brinks boxes of halves that turned out not to be Brinks boxes, they were String Boxes. My teller assured me that a Brinks truck delivered the, she doesnt know why they brought them. I have never had terribly good luck with Strings at all.

In Feb I did 4 boxes, all skunks.

In March I did 6 boxes and I managed to find a single 40% half

Today I did 2 more boxes, found a single 40% half. I do hope my 5 other boxes due on Friday are not String boxes.

I did manage to score a dime from the teller tray though. That skunk is over.

September Totals

1 - 40% (0.1479)
1 - Rosie (0.0723)

Total found 0.2202 oz for $0.60

10.6555 away from September goal

September totals 0.2202 oz for $0.60 or $2.72 an oz

A bank I used to pick up from is serviced by Loomis, as is another bank that I currently pick up from. One delivers the cube boxes the other the flat boxes. I think both banks have their own cash vaults with their own coin wrapping equipment hence the difference. Also, the banks in my area will buy coin from each other, which explains why sometimes a bank will suddenly have a different type of box. My thoughts.

I hope they dont continue that trend. I stopped purchasing from one bank that gave String rolls because they didnt produce. Every box and bag were dumps marked all to hell, even these were the same. I decided to take those funds and put them into clearing out one banks pallet of halves as quickly as possible. We will see what happens, perhaps I cleaned out the pallet and they had no choice until the new one arrives? :D

Well, since Strings is a wrapping company, couldn't have Brink's used their paper for the rolls?

They were flat boxes not the brinks Double Stacks unless they have decided to not supply their own paper and boxes.

If I could get Brinks quality of boxes ( filled with silver ) instead of the Strinks skunks, I would be happy. I could carry 4 or 5 of the flat boxes with ease to my car, more than 3 double stacks becomes a problem.

Stupid String and Sons skunky September. Seems I blew through the Brinks Pallet. All 3 pick ups were String Boxes, 7 in all and only 1 with a single 40% Maybe next week will be different. Maybe they just purchased enough boxes to cover this weeks deliveries while waiting for a new pallet to arrive? Who knows but I hope it is over quick. My first 10 rolls ever were string rolls, those netted me 16/40% Halves and its basically been skunky for Strings ever since.

Tomorrow I dump $1000 in halves and pick up dimes and nickels.

Good Luck on nickels and dimes. From what I hear, nickels dont produce too well(no personal experience however).

Nickels and dimes dont produce well here. I average one war nickel for every 95 rolls of nickels and 1 rosie for every 74 rolls of dimes. I just take their nickels and dimes in return for dropping off 2 bags of halves.

Well, with my hours being cut down to 40 a week they wont let me off early to make my runs so I have to run up to the city, 60 miles round trip, twice a week to make my rounds.

Last week I was dished out 7 boxes of Strings Rolls which produced a single 40% half. I knew I had gone through the pallet at that point and was hoping I would not receive more string boxes this week. Lucky for me, I didnt. I got me Brinks Boxes, one marked Fargo.. rather far away with me being in Missouri.

So.. first off I did $144 in nickels from last Saturday and got a single war nickel.

Box 1: Skunked
Box 2: 2/40% - 10/1964 - 2/Walkers
Box 3: Skunked

I have 3 more boxes to pick up tomorrow. Hopefully I run into more of box 2. Two rolls had 3 64's in it and one had a walker and 40% and another had a walker and a 64. I know I got into a part of a collection :D

Saturday I have a Estate auction to go to in the country, that might pan out for me.

Listed at auction.

7 - Morgan dollars 1889-1921 dates

Quick update.

Purchased 5 Rosies and a Washington Quarter from the coin shop with the spare change I had lying around.

Picked up 3 boxes of Brinks Halves and found a single 40%

I will do a full update after my pickup of dimes and nickels tomorrow and bother auctions are complete.

Well, the auctions where kinda bleh. The auctioneer at one auction had two rings going so I missed out on 31 silver quarters for $5 ea, someone nabbed them at $4.50 ea

The auction today I missed out on 10 barber Quarters for $5.50 ea because he didnt see me raise my hand. Most things went too expensive.

I did manage to pick up a few items.

2 walking halves for $17.50
1 Rosie for $2.50 ( no one wanted it so I took it )
3 Barber Halves at $12 ea
3 Barber Halves at $11.50 ea
10 barber Quarters at $5.50 ea

I dont like buying that high but I need to make sure I hit my total for the year so regardless it would have been purchased, this was a bit under melt so it helps.

No nickels or dimes from my dump bank but I did pick up $50 in pennies to sort through as I am once again sorting copper for its value to add to my 'retirement fund'.

This week is 7 boxes of halves.

Picked up two items as a street purchase. Same guy I purchased stuff from before. He is going in to the military

Sterling Necklace with Heart Pendant, 0.0743 oz of silver in it, paid $2, worth $2.55 - 22% profit
14K ring, weird shape to it but 14k none the less, rather small, 0.0112 oz of gold in it, paid $17, $19.74 worth of gold in it. 14% profit

I was going to offer him $18 but he only had $1 on him and all I had was $100's and a twenty. Lesson learned, carry Fives and Ones :D Amazingly I had no change with me at all. Not even my emergency pocket coin star buying change. All in all, still about 15% profit over all so I cant complain.

OK.. this week turned out good and bad in different ways.

So.. last week I picked up some gold and sterling from a guy which was not added to the monthly total.

Wednesday was 2 boxes of halves.

Box 1: Skunked
Box 2: Skunked

Friday was anther 5 boxes of halves.

Box 1: Skunked
Box 2: Skunked
Box 3: 1/40%
Box 4: 4/40%
Box 5: Skunked

I also did

1 CW Half - Skunked
5 CW Dimes - Skunked
6 CW Nickels - Skunked

Went to the coin shop on Thursday, picked up some coins with my spare change left over from the week ( 4 Quarters and a dime ) and then popped on two 64 Halves for $1 under melt just for the hell of it to get my OZ count up since hunting has been so crappy

Went to Auction today after work, grabbed up a 1998 $5 gold coin for $155, two 40% Halves for $6 and 3 Washington quarters for $13.

I have a approx $555 worth of dimes to do sometime this week, not sure if I will have the time to do them. I also have another pick up from the same bank to do more dimes, nickels and pennies on Tuesday.

So.. this month is as follows

Recycled the cans from work, got $12.50 and took my spare change from the week.

Picked up 2 Washington Quarters ( free from the cans ) and 4 Rosies

Grabbed up $550 of the $990 in dimes my dump bank had waiting for me. I will pick up the remainder of the dimes on Saturday and whatever nickels and pennies they may have. The $550 in dimes as ended my skunk streak with them, I found 4 Rosies in the bag, the skunk streak had hit $2560 before I found something today, June 26th was the last time I scored a dime from them.

So....

What is that?

I will get a picture of it for you in a couple hours. I picked it up from the coin shop, has two 1964 halves in it. I have another JFK related item with a half in it so I figured, what the hell and snatched it up. Perhaps in 20-25 years it will fetch a pretty penny at auction to fund my retirement.

It has two 1964 halves, uncirculated from both Denver and Filthy PA.
