A River Runs Through It

Decided to hit the road this afternoon to try and find somewere to search it's last Chance saloon now as I headed for the Motorway extentions on the Roman Road Dere Street
After driving up and down checking the places I searched last year, it was becoming apparent that there was nothing to do, although they are only halfway through the 15 mile stretch So I headed to the site were I found the Gold Stirrup Ring, I new the fields were all under crop, but There is a River That Runs Through it and the water levels are quite low
Well if you are expecting some Old finds forget it it was bloody hard work, but what a great place to spend a few hours detecting
Only modern finds I'm afraid, fishing weights, modern coinage and a lot of trash but a great time by a lovely place which given time and a bit more research into River detecting just might come up trumps with a nice find

I know were they crossed on Dere Street, and it's easily detectable

I'm gunna do it one evening, when the crowds die down, as it's quite a busy place

Great post SS, really nice pics . Shame the finds didn't match the scenery. The only rivers we have round here are tidal creeks with soft deep mud the consistancy of poo . The only other place at the mo' is the beach, so if I don't get any fields soon I'll have find out which bits are Crown Estates and head off down there.

Great post SS, really nice pics . Shame the finds didn't match the scenery. The only rivers we have round here are tidal creeks with soft deep mud the consistancy of poo . The only other place at the mo' is the beach, so if I don't get any fields soon I'll have find out which bits are Crown Estates and head off down there.

Thanks Ian it was just good to get out really and in such a nice place the last picture was taken about 50yrds from the Church, which is Norman dated ther's got to be finds in that River
