Relic Hunting
After getting a text from Antiquarian I started to get that craving of going for a hunt, so I met up with him at a park along the waters edge that has produced a wide variety of great finds for many. I haven't had such luck at this site as I've only detected it briefly and yesterday was a longer hunt that only produced a sleeper. Printing plate for the Ideal Furniture Company I believe.

Cool dig. That will display nicely

I like it !!

Hey buddy, that was an amazing find you pulled out of a site that's been pounded many times by others... ok, mainly by me! :laughing7:

Here are the pics I took of it right after you found it and an hour later after it had time to dry.

Congrats again J,
Dave

Awesome find PJ. Nothing sleepy about that. I would love to find a plate like that. Zilch here so far when it comes to printing plates.

Nice find! All you need is your PJ's and a blanket you'll be all set!

Thanks Dave, it's one of those finds that's just different and since you like it so much it's yours.

PS: You on the hook for the rest of the cleaning/restoration. :)

Wow, I'm totally speechless my friend! :notworthy:
You were right when you said, "that you thought it was made of lead and I thought it was copper laid on top of lead".

You are definitely one of the most generous guys I've met J! You've shared your 40+ years of detecting experience with me, some of the 'new sites' that you found through research and now one of your finds!
I'm absolutely gobsmacked, I'll have to make it up to you one day... that is if you actually let me find something better than you! :laughing7:

That is one cool find, would love to find something like that.

Congratulations on the very nice find. I bet you could apply some ink and make a nice impression.

Your welcome, you really liked it a whole lot more than me so I know it's going to a good home. I'm not sure if HP will hurt lead, but it'll work on the copper inlay probably. Geez we haven't found a great site yet, one of these days we'll stumble onto something that I'll get excited about.

PEPPER WHAT A COOL PLATE. LOOKS LIKE A IRON BED ADVERTISEMENT. NEAT AS HECK.

Cool find, I found a plate for a buster brown shoe socks advertisement. Should of went in the water, lol.

They do turn up in the strangest of places, not many dug over the years but I do get one every few years.

That's a really cool find. You just never know what's going to pop out of the ground.

I'll definitely have to make room for it in one of my Riker display boxes!
I think when more restoration is done to clean up the image, it'll display beautifully!
I have no doubt we'll find ourselves on a really great site some day soon, I sure loved detecting the train station site though! :occasion14:

Maybe the farmer will plough things under soon, that or I can see if he'll work the station and the corner up a little more so we can get some of that dirty metal out of the ground.
