We went out on our land for a couple of hours today and picked about a bit in the thick stuff. We cleaned out a few saplings and were rewarded with a few coins:

The first coin we found was the youngest, this 1956 silver 10 cents:

We quickly followed with two signals, first this really nice silver 1920 5 cents. These are always nice to find.

While my son was digging that I was opening up a hole for this 1745 George II half penny.

Things went a bit quiet after that, and then we got this William III half penny almost by the car, isn't that always the way.

I can't read much of the date but it would be 1695 to 1701, and I think I can see part of the 6.

Only 2 other interesting finds, this copper alloy or bronze item. No idea what it is, and it is broken, but perhaps part of a flash hole pick?

And an early hand cut screw. There is a mark on it but perhaps only where it was clamped at some time. Perhaps from a butt plate on a musket or more likely furniture.

hey nice assortment of saves, love the old silver, wtg

Those h'pennies are in good condition for their age. Most of the ones I have found are more worn. And my oldest is a KG II. You are in a great location!
I was surprised that the William was as good as it was for it was in wet ground which murders newer copper coins, but those old halfpennies are good metal if they are not counterfeit.

I have been really lucky, I have found 4 William III's in the last year, two of them silver. Also George I, William & Mary and a Charles II, most worn to almost smooth discs, but just identifiable. We got a 1655 Liard and what I think may be a Scottish Turner as well. If you detect any sites that were settled pre 1800 you could very likely find coins pre 1700
