Whoosey Doosies, unless you've got something better to call them?

Mom is clearing stuff out after my step-father passed away last month. Found
these in a corner of the garage and she's going to trash them. But I said to
hold on and yard sale them first and that I'd try to find out what they are.

Where did he get them from? Dunno, he used to be a draftsman for a local
archtitect firm in PA. Is it related? Or could they be from his parents farm? Hmmm...

They have a long metal extension that locks into place standing upright but
folds down to open the top of the container. I think the bottom of the container
works like a sifter but not sure. Here's a few cell phone pics of them...

From what I recall the "handles" were long iron pipes, one has a fitting on it as if to add more pipe to it.

i wonder why the need for more pipe/handle/pole
maybe you need to be away from it when opened, but why
seems you could just lift the lid without a mech that keeps
you at a distance, and holds lid open at same time

cant wait to see what these are for

Well folks, these things are long gone. Mom cleaned out the garage last summer and out they went. Too bad as I went to go get a pick and they had vanished!
I still wonder what they were for. :dontknow:

I don't think a manual fertilizer spread or a spreader for anything else. Fill one of those up and you'd have a tough time holding it at arms length. And without wheels you'd have to drag it across the ground and that wouldn't work on uneven ground. Maybe it attacahed to the sides of a tractor somehow and spread insecticide dust as you drove down the rows? Dang this is a tough one. What occupation was the old guy engaged in? Monty

How about something to do with honey bees? I wouldn't want to be within a 20 foot pole when releasing a just harvested colony......... ;D JMWAG......NGE

Also, the holes in the bottom could be used to introduce smoke up through the bottom making the bees " Whoosy " to facilitate dumping them out the top into new hives.........NGE

I belive you Had containers (probaly for milk or cream) that were lowered into a well to keep cool

Whatever they are I am guessing they are designed for introducing something into the bottom of a tank or some such. The lid "trigger" allows the tops to open when the lever on the bottom hits something.

Maybe for taking samples from a large tank? Pop the lid & whatever is near the bottom rushes in????
