I was able to get out to my favorite Seminole War fort today for a couple hours. The yard is a two acre tract and is owned by friends of mine. After digging there for some time I realized that the west side of the yard held a period building and I?ve found about 15 buttons around that building over the years. The extreme east side of the yard has been loaded with buttons. Mostly US great coat buttons and dragoon buttons. Today I finally realized that area was a period dump from the fort. Today I found a spot loaded with oyster shells and actually pulled the great coat button out of the oyster dump today. The dragoon button I found today was about two foot south of the other button. After pocketing the dragoon button I packed up and left the site to save some for another day. Thanks for looking and good hunting to all!!!
