A metal cap or lid with a hole in the center and is the white thing a bullet?

I am digging in the woods in East Texas (12 Miles of mostly woods) I am in Franklin County Texas on a private ranch. There was one homestead here in the early 1900's. I was told that there may have been a moonshine operation in a specific area here, but after 6 months of detecting, I see no proof of that. I found an area where I believe I have found a second and even a third homestead, but I can only base that on my findings.

That is possible, It has been several months since I took all of our apart to clean and oil them! The one I have in the photo is all metal, it looks plastic but there is no plastic on it. Just more info. for you and others. You never seem to be wrong, so I should just go with it! Thanks for replying once again!

I think that would be the drive gear .. usually those are all metal, or at least they were a few years back.

I couldn't find a drive gear for a fishing real but this is close enough for me!
