Last weekend I was calling it quits for detecting due to it was getting dark. Walked towards my Polaris, still swinging. I got a hit. The max was screaming and had an 85 on it. Taking into consideration what Crusader said about big rusty items giving larger numbers like that, I was hoping for a cool relic. I only had a hand trowel and the roots were thick, oh and no sun. So I went back out Tuesday night with shovel and trimmer and about 1/2 hour of daylight.

This hit my funny bone. I dug up a shovel with my shovel. LOL

I’m loosing count, but I think this is the 4th one I have found.

Made me laugh, maybe it’ll give you a chuckle too.

Thanks for looking,

WD

I love digging 85 vdi's on Garrett's but that's not what I would hope for either....

Shoveling and old rusted shovel! You can't beat that! I have done it myself. :occasion14:

Been there done that . shovel would not get past root mass so I went home and got a grubbing hoe. 1/2 hour later I was the proud owner of a beer can.

Way to go Wannadig. I have pulled that one off a few times. Kind of common in the farm fields, but your post did make me smile. Now maybe next time you should try digging with a gold coin and see what happens !

Dug a shovel with a scoop once.

I am still waiting to dig up my old pinpointer I lost years ago and now think may have gotten buried in a hole I filled in. heh

Thanks that is funny but the cool thing is that the whole time you were digging I bet you had all kinds of things going through your mind of what could be down there, thats the fun part.....Tommy

Cool finds! If your a relic hunter, you will dig a lot of iron in your life, but not all iron is bad; so you have to dig it all! :occasion14:

I get lots of those at the campground, but I don't fight with roots. There, the obstacles between me and my vintage trashed beer can are rocks. :BangHead:

Oh, if only it would work that way! :laughing9:
