Ole' buddy of mine and myself got into quite a debate over this, and I just wanted to find out what you folks thought.

Here goes.

You're walking down a deserted street. All of the sudden, you hear gunfire coming from an abandoned building. It only lasts a few seconds. Then nothing. Being brave, you go inside to see if anyone needs help. Here's what you find:

There are five guys, all with guns in their hands, all dead. It's clear they shot each other. On a table, is a large amount of cash , probably more than half a million, and a large pile of cocaine wrapped inblocks.

You look outside. You hear no sirens and see one else around. If you're certain no one has seen or heard what had happened other than you, what would you do?

Grab the loot, leave the nose candy behind!

No anonymous call to the police? Just grab the money and run?

Grab the money and the guns. Light the rest of the place on fire. :icon_thumright:

Easy..... Call the police. You would be taking too big of a chance. There could be security cameras nearby, the money could be marked, they could be under investigation...... and they may have friends. The list goes on. I prefer to find my money underground. It is an interesting story though.

first off, I'd figure Non of my buisness
Gunshots never came My way, no reason to go ask why
they shot at me or tell them to be
more carefull.
besides could be somone watching a too loud
TV or setting off Firecrackers, Target shooting ,
Gang war,
Whatever. I don't Judge.
since I Don't own the building,
trespassing would be out of the question.
guess I'd keep walking :dontknow:

I know what the moral thing to do is but to be honest if presented with that situation and that much cash...it would be a hard decision.

Yes it would be somewhat difficult to pass up that kind of cash, but too me I would have to try to save their lives first.

"All dead" means there ain't no saving!

Iron Patch & I will get new detectors ;D

Or maybe we would each grab a gun & Have a shootout
first over who gets it

If you would have asked me 20 years ago it would be a no brainer...take the cash and disappear. I wasn't the angel I am today :angel12:

First I would stop. Look for cams. Wrap your shoes in cloth to conceal prints. Put your hair in a wrap. Brush yourself off as well as possible away from the scene. Take the most direct path to the cash and wipe your tracks on the way out. Touch nothing. Get rid of your tire tracks, if any. Go home, give half to your favorite charity and relax. It would always be a question in your mind, however, for the rest of your life. It might be better not to add that baggage, especially if you did not need the money. I guess you could give it all to charity which is a better place for the money, but you would have put yourself in jeopardy for nothing (monetarily speaking).

Interesting answers.

Seems most people (not all) would take the money and run if they were pretty sure they weren't seen and wouldn't be caught. I fell into that camp myself.

BTW, this was a totally made up hypothetical. I just had to ask myself what I would do if I came across that much dirty money up for grabs.

Now my friend brought up this point: drug money or not, that money isn't mine to take. Just call the police and if there's a finder's reward, be content with that. If that money has a legitimate owner (maybe it was part of a ransom), then it should be returned to its rightful owner.

What say you?

My hope is to find a suitcase along the Interstate.
Lets's just say Finders Keepers Would work for me.

A very interesting question and different answers for sure. Since I have never been in a situation like that, not believe it would happen to me, I have a bit of a different take. I like what treasurehound was saying.

First, you don't know if it was a sting operation that went sour
Secondly, taking the guns will only implicate you in murder, and the additional charge of tempering with evidence if you are ever caught.
Finally, that money may be marked, so.....

Send the money to me, for 20% I will have that money professionally laundered and no one is the wiser :headbang:

There, a solid hypothetical answer ;D

If you did call the police, I would try to call a trustworthy individual. The cops might just play finders/keepers themselves.
