I think it would be a great idea to commemorate coin Designs a hundred years after their introduction... bring the Mercury dime back for 2016, the Standing Liberty quarter in 2017... and so on. Like to hear everybody's thoughts on the subject... :-) anybody have any influence on the Mints?

I agree with the dime, they need to do something with it and that sound just as good as anything.

Keep @ it and HH !!

No, but you should be thinking about digging....

Sounds ok to me. It would be better if we returned to sound money and they made them out of silver again too!

We now have copper plated steel, within minutes of it touching the ground its a rusty mess. I find better 2000 year old Roman coins, we all know that in the future we will be known as the 'Plastic Age', or 'tupperware culture'. ('footnote - quote by Crusader, this minute'):laughing7:

I really thought back in 2009 they could honor the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth by putting out a solid copper cent that
year - a one off design just for that one year - It would have been a hit - Instead they put out more zinc ! (new designs /but zinc )
Like Crusader's complaint about copper wash on steel , these "zincoln's" turn into Zombie coins in about ten minutes in the ground !

Maybe I should write a futuristic paper about the archeaologicial finds they are going to dig up. Maybe my typology of tuppwerware (TOT) will be a best seller, because its yet to be catalogued.....lol

I have no influence that I can admit to for umm 7 more years

I agree, the old designs are more attractive, however some of it is that the older coins were stuck in higher relief. The state quarters were a great idea, but all the designs are so flat and lifeless that I don't care for them. All the dies have been changed to super low relief now and I think they all look terrible.

I like the higher relief dies much better too

Yes , Nick - Look at how high relief the obverse of the Washington (silver) quarter was - compared to the state quarter series !

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, spend more money we don't have to make more money that cost much more money to make!!!!! What the heck, we could use a USA CREDIT CARD. In all reality we will probably see a total collapse of the monetary system, then all our silver will really be worth something. Don't get me wrong, I'm not making a comment on anybody, just the financial state in the US is scary to me, (can you say deficit? I like the way you say that)

just noticed you are a hoosier too. NE of indy here

Those old silvers at just so much more elegant than new money.I I like old money. I heard Jeff-Gordon is a tycoon BHG.

is that some female code?

I think its a great idea but do you mean an in thesame original denomination?Example ....they did this with the walking liberty half to our silver eagles and the comm one dollar from 2001 with the native american on the obverse like the buffalo nickle and buffalo on the reverse....also in 06 the san fran old mint comm has the morgan dollar reverse.....do tell more I love the idea and love the modern commems and the program and also interested if they stayed with the original denominations.....but damn could you imagine digging a capped bust or so on and then seeing the date as 2014 lol
