The boy and I hit an early 1900's yard today and did pretty good.

Started off finding an old U.S.button minutes after starting.

After finding some clad our next good find and my first,Crotal bell with pea clapper still intact.

Stacy was next to score on a fob,23rd Annual Convention July 23rd 18-21 1939 Lions Club Pittsburg.

It was my turn again finding a 53 quarter.

A little later I found a (Fob?) Kelloggs Corn Flakes.

Stacy took the lead for awhile first finding an old watch.

Then an old Easter egg filled with .69 cents, all clad.

And other then a handful of wheats,Stacy finds a 1902 IH.The IH was pretty rough looking. Most wheats were 40's and 50's with the four oldest being 1916,1917,and two 1919's.

Stacy also dug a pull tab and had a uranium marble laying in the same hole. And I found a pin I thought for sure was silver that turned out to be junk jewelry.

Stacy's marble still in the hole.

Neat Finds!!!

That's a good day! The Kellogg's corn flakes fob is really cool.

Great hunt! Those FOBs are very nice you two had a really good day! Congrats

Looks like you had a really good hunt, congrats. I gotta agree with Frostdigger, that Kellogs fob is cool. Artie

deershed , While I agree that the fobs are cool , The piece in the last photo that you think is silver is really an exciting piece to my eye ! Are there any hallmarks on it ? It does look like silver and the engraving detail is indicative of a classy and somewhat important piece - it appears to me to be Victorian and 1870's to 1890's (stylistically) I'm assuming it is a brooch ? AWESOME day you had !!
(I just realized you had referred to this as a pin already )

Wow awesome finds, The Kelloggs fob is way too cool. You made some great finds, Congrats and HH!

That pin sure looks like silver to me. Was just wondering if you checked your wheats for mint marks, couple of dates are possible dated coins if they are S mints. Just in case you didn't know, and for everyone looking, I'll try to post this webpage from cointrackers

Great finds!

In case your interested, that "US Button" is actually a military lapel disc... The other lapel would have had a similar disc with branch insignia.

Haha, I dig the Easter egg find!

I sure wish it is silver but it's not looking good.We ever get a kit we will test it.There's no hallmarks or anything on it, I went over the entire piece with a magnify glass and didn't find anything.
Here's another pic of the backside. The crud you see on it does come off with some hard rubbing under water.

Silver or not it is a pretty neat looking pin/brooch.

When I take stuff to jewelers around me, they have checked it, stones, acid test on metal, and none of them have ever asked me for any money. I have just walked in and they are always interested in my finds too. I so far have never spent more then ten minutes doing it either. Just in case you wanted to get it checked out. They charge for appraisals as far as I know.

Everything about this piece where the metal is showing says SILVER hallmarks or not ! the metal really has the look - the luster of
silver - I for one- would like to be updated when you know for sure !

When you look at this engraved silver are you thinking a monogram ? I am , especially since the positioning of the pin back mechanism
supports the idea .

great finds. the Kelloggs fob dates to about 1920. the other fob is cool too, and the brooch has to be silver
