I cleaned it up carefully on the back and can make out most of it. EXTRA R_ _ H TREBLE STANDARD

The R could be an H on both, it is hard to read. Does this give any more clue as to the years it was made? How about where it was made? Was this a post Revolutionary, pre-CW button? I am not real good on the history of buttons. Thanks, Bryan

It is ( RICH ) I am sure of it and I seen this same button at an auction being sold as early, pre civil war New York militia button. I have also seen them in some collections a few times. Real nice button!

Great info Doug! I have Albert's Button Book, but it does not give all of the diff backmark info that you have pictured. My book only shows 2 diff backmarks of many. Thanks very much! Bryan

Yes Extra rich as in Heavely gold gilted

I had no idea that is why they called it that! Thanks for the good info brother! Bryan

Thanks for all the great comments. Now the eternal question is....how did a pre 1825, pre CW button get in the field that has produced mainly
CW stuff?

Pretty Kool......I actually have 3 of them....my brother has 1 and my sister has one also. Ours are the earlier variety of 1808-1814 I believe they date to. Will have to look at the varieties, but they were all ID'ed as such from T-Net. Nice recovery! Hogge :headbang:
