Day 2 with equinox 800. Hit a very large off the beaten path park that today is ball fields and the like but according to the maps had a couple of homesteads in the 19th c. Only had 90 min. First 45 was working my way toward where they might have been.

long stretches with NO signals! Did get a an approximately 30 cal tiny fired 19th c rifle ball quite deep.

kept moving to the general vicinity of where these places used to be. A bit of aluminum and junk here and there but not many signals. Almost all signals heard very deep and confusing on day two of nox 800.

dug one though and pulled a small early 19th c button from 8". A good sign. Then a 40 cal old rifle ball, and a possibly 38 or so pistol bullet c 1900s. Then a clad dime.

this area has surely been hit hard but these finds were promising that finds still exist here.

it's helping me to learn the nox by being out in this less junky field Vs city parks.

i also consulted the maps again after going and feel like I have a better sense for where these houses were. They must have had small fields for crops and the rest must have been wild as the finds were scarce. Confident that as I learn my machine I'll be able to pull some more things here.

Salvatore, the finds are meager, yes... but promising. I’d MUCH rather find a little bit of 100 year old lead vs a lot of modern junk. Keep on those old maps and you’ll soon strike the mother lode. Good luck...Ddf.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Interesting finds with potential for more Sal, great advice from DDF!

If you don't already do it, I might suggest hunting these areas with '0' discrimination and bumping up the sensitivity.
As you know, you're looking for the 'iron spread' from these long gone wooden structures.

Looks like a nice Flat Button.

Nice relic hunt, congrats! :occasion14:

Lots of fun looking for old home sites and trees that are out of place and finding a story among your finds The 800 is a fun machine Good luck
