Who here is good with the camera? Treasure Fiend! I think we need to make a short documentary on what we do that spotlights the basics of our hobby and outlines the benefits to the community and parks. Something to make the bureaucrats realize that what we do is more of a positive activity and not just a bunch of people digging recklessly. Maybe if it catches on and goes viral it can be a sort of petition?

Also - I have always been frustrated with how everyone on MD forums only showboat their good finds. It is deceiving and misleading to everyone when we only show and talk about our good finds. We need to also be posting the pictures of our junk buckets. I can guarantee that some of the people who are tearing up the parks and not picking up after themselves are some of those people who have seen our posts of silver and gold and go out expecting to get rich without putting in the long hours of junk collecting. I know when I first started I was under the impression that silver was everywhere because that is all I ever saw posted on the forums. We need to be careful of who and how we influence potential MDers.

Happy and Responsible Hunting!

I like your idea!

In addition, we might also consider having a "trash" day. I KNOW each of us has a few boxes of trash
we've collected during our hunts just sitting in our garages (I know I do). Maybe it's time for ALL of us
to return their stuff to a pre-designated FP location, at a prescribed hour, all at one time. . .
with some local TV news coverage. This would definitely highlight our benefits to the community.

its gonna come down to a permit like driving, fishing ,hunting, gun, when you get caught doing wrong it gets taken away or a fine because most of the donkeys making trouble dig at night so its harder to catch them plus the state gets money so thay my go for it

Great idea!!I know I'm guilty of showboating finds with out showing pics the tons of junk collected during the last 6 trips with e trac..I still have all that junk from the last six outings and will post that pic tomorrow.

I don't know guys, seems like a reasonable idea but I also see a risk. Problem is that on the videos and shows that display MDing and the good finds you mention you might only see a few holes being dug...no big deal other then they're often very careless. But if you start showing buckets after buckets of trash I guarentee you some beuracrat or other hateful party is going to start translating all that junk into millions and millions of needless holes and damage. Not only are these people against our hobby but many of them are very shrewd and they have become very proficent in turning the tables at every chance. Where we see a lot of junk being taken out they will see a lot of needless and damaging holes being dug. Just the way their minds are geared to work....:dontknow:....a sad state of affairs for sure.

Good ideas Jason but we really need to get together with those clubs that are organizing an opposition and take a larger, united front against this thing. I've heard from the MHRS and they plan on fighting this proposal, good for them. What other clubs in the area that will be affected are doing something. It's NOT the time to stick that head in the sand.
