My first "piece of eight" I have found, just to bad not the piece with the date on it. They later, off to another site and managed 3 British 1812 buttons. One being blank but stamped, London on the back, and the other two are, Royal Reg. of Artillery's. 16mm and a smaller 13mm, with the blank being 14mm in diameter. The 16mm has the usually "I.M.Gowan, London as the makers mark while the 13mm is blank. This was just a couple of short hunts with a pin pointer alone, as most days are at these locations as the machine is useless as the iron. The site where the buttons came from, been 3 different machines there used many times, and doesn't pick up a thing, as soooo many small iron nails, so just are sift and point sites. Thanks for looking and HH all.

P.S. I will try to post some of my other years finds once I see where to put them lol. Maybe under "collection" as that's what they be to me :icon_pirat:

Yuppp, quite a few times, the pointer is all I use and seems to work well for me. Wait till you see my other pointer finds :tongue3:

Thanks all and always glad to save a few buttons from the soil!! The bit was an added bonus and a sweet surprise at that site. My hunting buddy found one a few years back at another pointing site that some poor soldier dropped.

lucky stiff!! You could of at least dug it from under IP nose, maybe next time :laughing7:

I only hope there's an explanation for that one!

You found a beautiful piece of Silver Pie. :o ;D

Nice job on the cut spanish. They will make a 2009 yearly finds column sometime in the month of December most likely.
