Sunday, I hunted a new spot (soybean field) where CW soldiers possibly camped 10 or 15 miles from Bentonville NC. I found an eagle button (damaged face), some melted lead , brass pieces, couple of wheat pennies and the base of an artillary shell. It has a brass ring sabot which measures approx. 2 13/16 inches in diameter. Anyone care to try to identify which type of shell this fragment is from?
Thanx for looking and HH y'all.

I could be 10lbs but from what I have seen the sabots are more cuped on the 10 pounder. I am no expert but I would say at least it is a parrott.

I initially thought it might be from a parrot shell, but the diameter has me wondering. :icon_scratch:

Nice finds! Some years ago I got permission to hunt a soybean field adjacent to Bentonville battlefield. I found bullets, a stirrup, a button, harmonica parts and some other neat stuff. I lost them in my attic and have been recently looking for them :dontknow:

Nice finds. I agree, It looks like part of a parrot shell
