Winter's drawing nigh and I don't know how many more hunts I'll do before the freeze. But, I'm planning on doing much more research for next year. I did ok this year. Considering that I've almost exclusively hunted parks, schools and the like all year long. :) Not just clad city but also, already heavily hunted! Still, I seemed to manage. :)

Today, I wandered about for 4.5 hours. Just concentrating on higher tones.

Here's the take:

A coat button? 2 lil lead pellets of some sort, a thingamabob(window shade end?)

2014 (865).jpg

Modern buckle

2014 (866).jpg

Fishy has a new shiny.

2014 (867).jpg

Blingie has a new bling.

AND....to finish up the hunt, I turned and "started back toward the car":

Nothing quite so warming as that silver glint, now is there. :)

Actually, I got two oldsters to complete a pretty fair day in clad city.

But, I have GOT to talk to transportation! ;)

Thanks for stopping in folks!

nice finds!,i know watcha mean about the winter, was blowing 30mph around my parts&i wasn't feelin it today..supposed to blow 40 tomorrow.

Now there ya go! Persistence paid off with a nice wheat n silver!

Good saves!

Not bad at all.
I hear you on the freeze AND the research. That's my plan as well.

It was wet, windy and cold here all day. I just went to work 'cause it was too nasty to hunt.
I was hoping I could go out around 4:00 but by then it was even worse.

I'm glad someone got to hunt today. Congrats on your finds.
Nice Rosey BTW.

Yep, I expect that you saw the winds before I did, here, east of you. :)

I wasn't really "wanting" to challenge the elements but, I'm figuring it'll be frozen ground soon enough. Then, I CAN'T hunt. So, I'll challenge for as long as I can.

Thanks!

Nice hunt, Gary. 1962 was a WONDERFUL year.....the year I was hatched, lol. It seems silver Rosie's are almost getting as scarce as Merc's around here.

Nice finds.

I'm debating right now whether to hunt or not today.
I can take the 40 some degree weather but the wind is howling out there and is supposed to get even worse. We'll see.

It felt like January out there last night.

That's why they made hoodies! So we could keep the wind from blowing off our headphones. ;)

Just remember, if you get too uncomfortable, just hang it up! If that 20 dollar gold piece has been there this long, it'll wait until you get back. Unless Treblehunter happens to be in the area. ;)

Remember, the ground will freeze for a long time! :)

Any hunt with a silver is a winner in my book.

I hear you on the weather, ground looks pretty frozen this AM, but the sun is up and I think I'll go hit my local school spot for an hour or so, because it is getting near the end of the season here.

HH,

Pete

Friday evening I had on three shirts, a hoodie and gloves. It wasn't too bad but it was pretty much dark by 6:45. So today it'll be about 5:45 or thereabouts.

I know it'll be too late to hunt very soon but this cold weather right now is WAY too soon. I looked out the window and the trees are bent over in this freakin' wind. The forecast says it will get even windier as the day goes on. Of course, tomorrow and the rest of the week looks great; near 70 on Tuesday. I think I'll start going to work early so I can knock off and at least get an hour or so in after work for as long as I can squeeze it in .

I've been dreading this time for months. Between the end of daylight savings and the crummy weather, my hunting time is gonna' be severely hampered.
You know how it goes. Just when you really start to get the hang of something or enjoy it, something comes along and messes it up. On the upside, it makes you appreciate the good hunting weather and the long days. Can't have one without the other.

I do have a killer ski suit I can break out if it comes down to it. I could hunt in any weather with that on.

Oh well. I intend to do a huge amount of research this winter and hit the ground runnin' in the spring regardless. I got some big plans you know. Got my heart set on that 20 dollar gold piece you mentioned, maybe even an old Mason jar filled with 'em.

Nice on the wheat and silver Rosie! Congrats!
Some silver for you bling for Blingie, shinny for Fishy, and some extra ! You had an awesome day!
I think that car is a "build your own", you know, from all the other parts you've collected.

I decided to challenge the elements this morning, even my pin pointer said that was a bad idea. First target out in the blowing rain, ice and snow and pin pointer battery needs changing. I squeezed in 30 minutes before I had get back in the truck and thaw my fingers, boy did that hurt! :coffee2: sure felt good!
Hopefully this mess will stop before dark and I can talk hubby into going to the beach and see what can be found there. If there was ANY question about my sanity before there is none now! :laughing7: keep hunting while you can!

I walked out to get some stuff from my car and it is FREEZING. I can deal with the cold but the wind is terrible.
It's really howling today. It's gusting to around 30-40 mph. You just can't hide from that.

I may still venture out in a little while though. It is sunny but I believe it's about as good as it's gonna' get today. I'm thinkin' it may be a good day for the woods rather than the middle of some field; maybe between a few hills.
Of course, tomorrow will be beautiful since I have to work.
