I almost didn't go out yesterday. Boy am I glad I did! The day started out with showers, but the weatherman said it was going to clear and be sunny. How many times have we heard that? I arrived at an old park and started swinging the coil a little before 1 p.m.
This park has given me 2 Bucket Listers already this year. An 1832 Capped Bust Half Dime and just recently,, an 1858 Flying Eagle Cent. I was thinking, with those kinds of dates, where are all the Seated Coins? Well, let me tell you,, by 1;17 p.m.,,, I was texting pictures of an 1876 Seated Half Dollar. Unbelievable how one coin can get the heart to palpitate like that. Unbelievable. The question was, "How did this coin hide for so long??"
Before this hunt was over,, I recovered a Mercury Dime and a 1960 Roosevelt Dime. With those two in the pouch, I knew I would be searching until either a Barber Dime appeared or the Sun went down. Well, I couldn't find a Barber Dime for the Tri-fecta, but the sun did go down.
Now, when I got home, I started to clean my finds so I could take some pictures. I cleaned a silver ring I had found with a baking soda paste and I noticed some engraving on the inside of the ring. Sure enough,, I saw a clear K, and what I believe is a faded 4.
I think I got me some old 14k white gold.
This was truly "A DAY I WON'T SOON FORGET"

Wow, that's why we all metal detect. Super nice finds. I love the gold ring. And really nice find on the S.H.D. A day to remember!

What a hunt, that's a dream day for sure! That's a beautiful Seated half. And it's amazing how good finds can hide for so long, I guess that's why we keep hitting the same spots over and over. You have inspired me to go dig today!

When you text me the photos of the Seated half yesterday I couldn't believe my eyes!!! Of course I called you right away, I'm so happy for you, it's an incredible bucket list find. Of course The cherry on top is finding that 14 K White Gold ring it looks like a chunky one! Congrats on the other silvers, well done my friend! Hey the buckle I found is older LOL. Sorry couldn't help myself! HH

Dang! Man nice work. Good to see others dig a boat load of crap to get the goodies!

Excellent silvers, plus a splash of gold!! Congrats on such great finds...:occasion14:

Nice going on the two dimes. HUGE congrats on the Seated Half, it's a real beauty.

Beautiful specimen of a Seated Half Dollar. So much for hunted out public parks. Silver, Gold, and I think you forgot that lonely Buffalo. He hee! Yep, the heart does get to skipping on hunts like that. Thanks for including the trash mate. The price we must pay for successful hunts such as this one. Well done.

I had to take a picture of all the trash I dug yesterday.
After the Half Dollar, I wasn't taking any chances with possibly missing something good. lol

Congrats on the seated half and other nice finds

Let's see some dirty silver pics! I like to see them cleaned up, but really like to see them fresh from dirt. Or "FFD"

I took these pictures and texted them to two friends shortly after digging this coin

Very nice large silver coin. I was lucky enough to snag a seated half about 3 years ago. It's one of my favourites congrats
