Today was the first nice day we’ve had in a long time so I decided to go do a little digging. I decided to go try a field that I’ve had my eye on for about a year. I’ve finally found the owner at his house (I’ve tried to find him 3 times before). He gave me permission to hunt the field anytime I want

Now this field had a horse track on it from 1860 to about 1910. It promises to be a very nice hunting spot, with one problem. The field is a little over 1200 acres. Now I was able to hunt it for about 3 hours today so I figure I was covering about 10 acres a min. This may seem a bit fast for you but I was able to find a few nice little things.

Small buckle
1932 wheat back penny
1881 Indian head penny

10 acres a minute? :o :D
What the heck....you were on a race track Timmy...not the race horse....
Those are some nice finds and I cant wait to see all the stuff you pull out of there! Congrats on finally tracking down that owner!

Wow...that is alot of ground to cover!
Lucky You !! What a great spot!

but?? .....10 acres a minute?
I have never seen anyone run with their detector!

T NY,

sounds like a good spot, and big.

Very nice finds.

Do you have any idea of the layout of the
track? Old photos, postcards?

have a good un..............

Congratulations on your finds. You were trying to say 10 feet a minute perhaps? If you are really doing acre or 10 in minute somehow I feel you are missing out on some coinage.

Nice finds though. Love the IH.

The "10 acres per minute" part of your post had me scratching my head in amazement, but I figure there was a little mistyping somewhere in there?

An old race track has got to be a fantastic place to hunt. Keep posting what you find, and don't wait too long to go back. We never know what a property owner might do..change his mind, buy himself a detector, invite others in to do the place...so hit it often and GOOD LUCK.

Hey Timmy-sounds like you've got a good spot.Nice finds.Slow down a little and take your time. Some friend told me of an old race track in a city about 20 mins. away from here. Finally found the owner-nice guy-but he said no.I figured I'd give him some time and then I'll try again.Glad you got into your spot.Good luck and HH.

Hey Tim.........I will be seeing you tomorrow out there in that field....

The bulk of the concessions and the entertainment part of that

race track will be there somewhere ! we will find it sunday!! Nice post

and will talk later....... ;)

Holy cow, Timbo, if you were doing 10 acres a minute, you would put Ed to shame! Slow down, dude, you probably would have found more, but you had to sprint with that Ex II. I bet that was a site to see! hehehehe

10 acres a minute?! imagine how much stuff is in that field if you found those at that speed! hope you can get back there soon when you're not in such a hurry-

Actually, he could not run and cover 10 acres a minute. I believe he has figured out a way to fly!

:D

Sounds like a really good site for old coins and stuff, congrats and good luck there.
Looking forward to seeing all your goodies from there.

Smiles!
