Any Info on these two buttons appreciated. The cross one has what I believe is some sort of Latin phrase, but, I can't make out exactly what it says. The second one I think is probably a military button.....6th regiment? Or, is it upside down and 9th regiment? I think 6th because there looks to be a horse or some other animal above the line. Thanks.

Neat finds. Both are British Army, but difficult to date in that condition. Backmarks may (or may not) help.

The first is for the Coldstream Guards. The second is for the 6th Regiment of Foot, who retained that title until 1963, when they became the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. The animal depicted is a deer, or heraldic 'hart'.

In both cases, the 'Latin' wording on the surrounding garter is actually in French as “HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE” (shame on him who thinks evil of it), which is the motto of the Order of the Garter.
