A Colonial Relic Hunter's Generosity to a Great Landowner

Today, The Three Datectateers got out to the site that yielded us 6 large cents last Sunday. :headbang:

Well, since this site has already given us the kind of items that we search for in this great hobby, I decided to set a goal for myself...a goal to give back to the landowner a piece of history off of his land. :icon_thumleft: As the day progressed, I noticed that I had 3 Injuns, and a 1941 wilver dime in my datecting pouch. Well, to make a long metal datecting story short, I gave the landowner the 3 Injuns and the wilver dime that I had recovered earlier on the trip today. Colonial KirkPA also gave his 1920 wilver dime and a few relics to him as well.

Even though I don't have a coppa or Spanish wilver to post, I just wanted to show that we, The Three Datectateers, do have a kind metal datecting heart. :D :headbang: The landowner loved our generosity, and we thanked him greatly for allowing us to hunt on his historic piece of property. :notworthy:

All in all, I found 3 buttons, 2 horse rings, and a potential musketball mold. The one button could be a coppa, but after 2 hours of tumbling, there wasn't enough detail to give myself credit for it. It could be a coppa, but only the coppa could actually know if it is indeed a coppa. :D

As always, folks, keep that Colonial fever higher than a Colonial fever could ever get! :occasion14:

Kyle

Note: The Injuns were dated 1893, 1901, and 1902.

Nice digs Kyle. I knew you guys had a heart..and that's a neat thing you did.
By the way. I think the button that might be a coppa...but only it knows if it is a coppa....IS a coppa ;D
Since you dug it...I say it's a coppa :D Nice digs buddy

The 3 Injuns were lost by the landowner's grandfather, so it meant more to him than it did to me.

The potential coppa could be a counterfeit King George. I don't see any resemblance of a shank. I just wish there was some detail on it in order to allow me to identify it.

It does give our hobby a good name when we, as treasure hunters, can give back as thanks for the cordial invitations to hunt a certain piece of property.

Now, get back out there and find us some more Spanish wilvers and Early American large cents!

Doug, I always did have a kind heart...for your super hilarious vids! :D You have a great sense of humor, buddy!

I did show it to the landowner earlier in the hunt, but he and I both didn't know what it is. I wanted to give it to him, but he kindly turned down my offer.

Now, get out there and find us some more fortune cookie pocket spills. :D  :icon_jokercolor:

Zoy, that was a nice thing to do. Not too long ago I found a 1817 coppa in nice shape at a house I was detecting at. I already have one in my collection, so I ended up giving it to the owner, along with some other relics and buttons. People like it when you do something like that, and they are even more than likely to let you go detecting again. Some people refuse to do something like that, but I'm with you on the gifting option

Nice job on your generosity to the land owners. I bet they were happy. I like the open work on that flower piece that you found. Is it a brooch? I can't wait to see some more Kyle copper

We are actually done with the place. We have decided to move on to another rasearch site. I guess a "permission mission" will be in the near metal datecting future for "The Three Datectateers."

Thats what I was thinking. Generosity is giving 50% of the total value of your finds :D I have given farmers £1000s worth of stuff (& £100s of cash). Its there property & I just help find it.

Re: A Colonial Relic Hunter's Generosity to a Great Landowner

Ok, at the risk of sounding like a complete IDIOT...what is a wilver ? When I saw it once I thought someone hit the wrong key (w instead of s) but then more than once in the post. Sorry, guys, I'm not up on the hip terminology.. ???
