Had a cold(and slow) start to the day. I ended up getting three firsts for me personally. I finally got going on something and found a wheat penny to start it off. About 10 minutes later while loosely gridding out this area, figuring there outta be silver in here if these wheats were dropped. I then got a banging quarter signal, figured another pop top. Well, thought for sure that's what it was when I saw it peaking at me on the side of the hole I just dug. Started cleaning it off a litte and noticed it was my first silver of the year and also my first silver washington. Sure, last year I dug 1800's and 1700's silver, but only one 1900's silver. lol Anyway, it's been mangled by something and it's a 1954. Silver is silver though, right? Not too long after that I got a nice 70-71 vdi and figured for another wheatie. Nope, a KG the II copper. Talk about a jump in age difference in coins!! Hit a little dry spell then eventually hit on a dime signal and turned out to be a 1928 mercury dime, also my first. So I had a pretty good day I think. First for a washington silver, first for a mercury and first time getting more than one silver in one day...add on a colonial copper and that's a fantastic day in my book! Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Excellent Finds! kind of took a big bite out of that quarter to see if was silver I see ;) hh

Almost turned that Quarter into silver slaw. Beautiful finds. Chances are that we won't find any KGII's here on the left coast. We do however have silver quarters and merc dimes. Although I have not yet in five years found a Mercury dime and that is on my wish list. HHHH

Nice finds

Starting this year like you ended last year Matt. WTG & now dig that CW stuff, Q

Trying, Quindy! My buddy was finding some bullets..everything from colonial to cw to more modern stuff is all in the field. Just didn't snag any cw stuff today.

WOW you had a awesome day, sure wish i was there!!! Wouldn't hurt hammering the quarter flat so you can fit it into a flip. Any detail on the back of the KGII?

You can see some of the lady on the back. Plan on taking a q-tip to it here a little bit to see if I can get some detail. Will post pics if it cleans up nice.

Looking like a 1747

That makes this my oldest copper so far, beats my other by 2 years. Pretty good start(coin wise) for the year!

That is a wide range of years for sure. It blows my mind with all the stuff you dig that you havent dug any merc's or washingtons before. Well now you have and you should get back to the old stuff agian,,, lol. I do enjoy seeing all the cw finds you bring out of the ground up there. Congrat's on a great start to the new year.
