A clad cleaning solution

Well, I finally got around to cleaning all my clad from my many months of parking meter hunting... it's about $60 worth (would've been about $70, but I kinda robbed the kitty for dip money a couple of times!)

I had the idea of using muriatic acid, which is normally used to clean concrete before putting down flooring, etc.... well, it worked!

Only took about 30 mins.... just made a 50/50 solution of acid to water and let them cook in a 5 gal. bucket...

The clad has a sortof pinkish/copper tone, but really, who cares? As long as they go thru the Coinstar I don't care!

Here are a couple of pictures, one of a quarter to sortof show the finished state...

I always just wear the clad in a little pouch in my pants. I don't wash the pants for a few months and wear them every day. Acid eats the tarnish off the clad.
