"A BUSTED LADY! That dang SE!

Man, This has been one wild ride of a week. I can't believe it's gone by so quickly!

Basically, I'm retired. I have the time to pursue this MD'ing mania like mad. And, I am. I've been from Raton, New Mexico to Pueblo, Colorado back and forth, forth and back. The last several days I've tried concentrating a little closer to home; Trinidad, Colorado. Anyway, the weather's certainly been strange; rain, hail and snow. Throw a 70 degree day or two in the mix also and you definitely have one weird drink! :)

Anyway, a record coin week; at least for me. Several "don't know whats". An 1828 Busted Lady, an 1863 Seated dime, a 1903-1914 Dime, a brass something or other Olive tree coin, a 1909 V nickel. I also found a mess of melted silver, appears to be quarters and a silver dollar? Anyway, don't wish to brag; just been working extremely hard to find this stuff. There's also some sort of Chinese coin there also.

SE owners; if you find a hot pocket increase your sensitivity to max and gain to at least 8; it does give you a lot more depth. I dug the 1863(53?) dime for example at almost 10 inches.

Now that's what I call a nice mess of finds! Diesel is a lot cheaper than gas, at least here in Michigan. Gas is 3.59, diesel is 2.89, makes me wish I had a diesel. :( Keep up the good work; I'm retired too and have been having a great time mding. ;D

Hey Guys!
One of the board members just PM'ed me with info on the 1863 Seated Half Dime. It appears this little jewel may be worth a couple of hundred dollars! His excitement got me excited and I got up, sit down my Coors and found that long lost magnifying glass! It now appears I, in fact erred (don't tell my wife). This little pretty piece of silver is absolutely an 1853 with no mint mark that I can find. So, it's probably now only worth half a dime! ::)

Thanks!
Ron

So it seems it is OK to post hand disinterred good stuff on a white towel but NOT hand disinterred crape. Picky. Picky. Picky.

BTW. I want my towel back. LOL :D ;D

That Israeli Coin???

Hey Guys!
It's a lot to absorb, I know.
My pickings this week have not been near as impressive. But, at least I'm out of the chair "and" outside! :)

Monkeyboy,
Here's some isolated pics of that Iraeli coin?

Professor,
You been in my "NOT FOR THE BANK" bucket again? :)

Awesome finds!!!

Something to think about regarding the 1828. Isn't pretty odd to find something American that clearly goes back before the Westward Rush began? In other words, what the heck was that coin doing way out west in 1828? Unless of course it was already old when someone dropped it.

Seriously though, do some research and I think you'll find there were very few Americans if any that settled that far west before 1840. There may be some interesting history there.

Hey Gs & Gs!
Thanks again for commenting; no encore on this one for sure; last week was definitely weird. This week has been a bugger. We have a park here locally in Trinidad which I am determined to conquer! I found the 1903 rather worn dime, shown in the main grouping there last week. And, just yesterday a 1943 Merc. You wouldn't believe the trash or, probably you would! Lol!
Anyway, this week the pickings has been slim; I'll post the results later.

Pocalaboy, you are so correct!
Colorado was sparsely populated up until the late 1800s. Many parts are still so today.
But, these coins definitely got here somehow! :)

Great finds, I think it's time to invest in a good detector like the SE. I have spent far too long fooling around with lower end detectors. Roy you have inspired me. Congrats again.
