Well May did not have the silver numbers I wanted, but I got a big first for me.
I always like to have a particular goal in the back of my mind when detecting. There’s the “daily goal” and the “next on my list” goal.
I have to say that most of the places we hunt, either have bad EMI, bad iron or BOTH.
One of my favorites was getting a Merc at about 5” down-With a piece of a iron nail just off to the side. I called my buddy MT over when I discovered it and put everything back like I found it for him to listen too. He agreed, the signals are getting so sparse these days, he would have dug that for sure.
Well suffice to say, the next on the list goal proved to be my favorite coin yet. A Barber Quarter. Given the low mintage (by comparison sake) of the Barber line, I really thought that this coin would be many more years in the making… Glad she showed up early!!!
This was found amongst iron too. A nice big chunk was sitting about 5” away and about the same depth. There was only one angle that this coin repeated on. Glad I didn’t walk away from this iffy! (A BIG thanks to Staydetuned who has helped me a bunch)
Another religious pendent too. Makes the 5[SUP]th[/SUP] one this year. Is somebody trying to tell me something
My first telephone token too. This came with a 1912 Wheat so in good Barber ground for sure. I’m told the token is a maverick one. Not sure on any more info there.
A big funky religious thing to I guess… Cleaned up OK, just don’t know anything about it yet.
What’s detecting without some people you know! MrLarry had to work this day so just the trio you see here.
From left to right… TomInSalinas – Staydetuned – and Turf_aholic. The ending of one of my favorite times detecting.
Some big huge silver here too. Any ideas on the design Lucky for me it was stamped “925” inside the clasp. Funny but the clasp works 100%. So not sure how it ended up 4 inches down in the turf.
Great little “token” from the 60’s. total homemade pipe. Complete with silver thimble for the bowl. (Which still has something in it… Got a light)
And the all the iron that is fit to drive any sane person completely batty.
This is a sample of the areas we hunt. Iron everywhere! And trying to decide on a digable signal amongst all this stuff is super tuff. But when you get it right, it can pay off big time!
*** Thanks to Staydetuned-TomInSalinas-MrLarry-MT-ODave-Nicasian and the rest of the crazy characters that make up our great detecting community!!
