Went out with Smittyman today to a couple of his permissions. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Carolina blue skies, sunny, and pushing 60 degrees. Eat your heart out Abe, Vino and all you other northerners with frigid temps and frozen ground....LOL

Didn't find a whole lot. Managed a few wheat pennies, a 1958 dog tag, newer toy car and a lonely little mercury dime. It is the camaraderie that made the hunt fun. I hope everyone gets a chance to get out hunting this weekend and ya'll have amazing luck.

Being able to hunt in January is a treasure in itself!

Congrats on on the silver

Thanks Ron! Wish I had the pleasure of just watching all those giant silver and gold coins being saved from the ground. Those finds make my mercury dime more like a little toy compared to the giants you guys dug.

Always nice to find a little silver. Relic season just started in the South! I love this time of the year. Woods, no snakes, no ticks!

I wouldn't beat up the northerners too bad. When they can hunt those parks and home sites produce some amazing finds leaving me jealous! :(. Finding a merc here is a big deal. Congrats

We were out yesterday Beeze, you were not the only blessed person to hunt yesterday. Must be because the Mason Dixon Line cuts through to the north of me?
Now Abe is really in the cold zone. I will be out later hunting again on another beautiful day.

Nice finds, don't short yourself, nothing wrong with a dog-tag and some silver.

Nice to get out huh? And your right as far as me getting out..Not a chance.
Ground is frozen..But you wait..I think its going to be a banner year..lol

Its a balmy 2 degrees today this morning in upstate NY, but it will make it to 30 degrees later today. If I had a jack hammer I could get through the permafrost and make some good finds I bet.

That's it! When spring comes I'm gonna be a digging machine. Stacks of silver coins! Great find bud. Any day with a silver coin is awesome!
Ok -17 windchill! I hate Maine for 3 months.

the merc looks might sweet, the dog tag is a bonus

How do you keep your chocolate from melting in those temps? Nice Merc! Can't complain about that!

It is because I am SO jealous of their sites that I rub in the warm weather a bit. ESPECIALLY to Abe.

I think the dog tag came off a 50 year old dog. It still has most of the red paint on it and you have to figure being a 1958 tag it would have been in the ground long enough to remove the paint.

Did I tell everybody that I'm deathly allergic to BEEZ? Lol

Good to see treasure coming out of the ground in NC

Hey Beez. I ever show you this?
