A 3 hour excursion into the woods turned out to be quite memorable today. I came across a vernal pool pretty deep in the woods, and decided to spend some time detecting around the water's edge with my AT-Pro. After just a few minutes I got a sweet, high tone ( VDI =89) at about 6 inches. It sounded perfect, and was thinking I had stumbled upon a large copper. After a careful extraction, the target turned out to be a 1875 S Seated Half Dollar! I was a wee bit excited to say the least! The 1959 D Washington quarter popped out of the ground about 50 feet away. Thanks for looking. HH.

Killer find SM! That's one sweet BIG silver brother, congrats.

Fantastic coin! That would be by far the best coin I ever dug if it were me. I've got a 1887o Morgan dollar, but it's black and toasted. I still haven't dug a seated coin.

Great job and thanks for sharing.

Great find!!! Thanks for sharing.

WOW!!
That Half is in SUPER shape! Looks like it was dropped right after it was minted.

Oh, nice silver George too :)

Yeah, I'm either jealous or envious or a mixture of both. Very nice coin in excellent condition and I want one SO bad. Great recovery and you can tell George to get lost.:laughing7:

That's a special club you're in, congrats! And you are such a consistently generous, positive person on Tnet...I always like to see finds like this go to people like that. : )

Wow!!!!! :notworthy:

Congratulations on a Sweet Silver! Somebody had a bad day by the pool in 1875, as that 50-cent piece was worth $10.50 in today's money. :icon_thumright:

Super Sweet!! Any seated is a great find, a seated half, Wow!! Bet the Washington almost felt like it was clad after that seated. Lol
