The last time we were here was nearly 3 years ago & we had a great 2.5 hour grid:

Our plan was simple we had 1 go at this field, as it was a few days behind 'The Hill' field & the Winter Wheat was only just showing. At the start of the day, I called it our '1 hit wonder'. Honestly, we would have been happy with just 1 hammered, but that wasn't the day we ended up with. Although I say 'we', I got all the silver, although I pinched 2 off Cru'dads runs including the Harold I.:laughing7:
Cru'dad did help clear some deep iron though.

5.5 hrs:

1 Scrappy
2 Crotal Bells
Squashed Silver Thimble
16/17th C Spoon Bowl
Mostly 14th C Medieval Buckles
1st C AD Roman Brooch
6th C Saxon Brooch bit (Type I need)
10th-11th C Saxon/Viking Stirrup Terminal bit
Rare type of Roman Bell with openwork. (a first I think)
4 Modern Milled Silver Coins
Poor broken bit of A large Hammered Shilling?
Poor Penny of a York Mint (King unknown)
Henry VIII Durham Mint Penny

Harold I, Harefoot, 1035-1040 cut halfpenny, Beorn of York. I've never had this King before (not sure if its in the Rare or Very Rare bracket!), I think he is one of the last Viking Kings.:headbang: Here is a similar uncut version but not the same mint or moneyer:

We don't know how we do it but we followed our usual 1 day silver blank with this (if you don't count the silver plated shilling).:coffee2:

excellent results. congrats!

That has to be a pretty rare variant owned by a high status Roman. In old times before mass manufacturing and accuracy, metal objects that cast in full detail, were well crafted with open-work, and had a good finish usually belonged to the well to do and the nobles.

I'm guessing it went on a Roman Cavalry horse, they were the best paid Military soldiers & liked their bling.

Cru'dad did a little research on Harold I mints & moneyers:

Paper on Research outlining types of Legend for York coins in tables at end of Doc.

From my reading of this study your cut half is a Hildebrand B type 2 which were minted from late 1037-1038 and only 1 example documented with BE[ORN ON E]OFE is listed at serial 1083 at that time.
