8 Silver Coins Out of Golden Gate Park S.F.!

Hit a hot spot in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco over the Thanksgiving Day weekend. All are silver coins are dimes. The buffalo nickel is a 1917-S. Overall, 22 wheat pennies were dug. A silver earring topped things off. Most of the good coins were in that 3 to 6 inch depth range, a few were brought up by all those gophers digging their holes. At least three of the silver dimes were only 1 inch deep! The ground is perfect right now with all the rain we've had, I can cut out a 6 inch plug in 10 seconds. I'll be back next Saturday!

We are fortunate in northern California with pretty mild weather all year long. I've never known of our ground freezing in the winter, at least in the 40 years I've lived in the Bay Area. One thing that is a little frustrating is all the rain we've had the last 2 weeks. I can only hunt on Saturday and Sunday, it's rained the last two weekends It's been two weeks since I've been out Mding.
