Hi guys I need help, my uncle kept claiming that this 7kg Stone was one of the stone that many were looking for 10 years ago. He found it on Malaysia back then. I've been studying these since I was very young and I happen to know quite a bit about the science behind it.

Who is "we" ?

I was just hoping to learn something other than what I can read about.

Have a great day!

'We' is the usual way of referring to the scientific community when it shares its information with those that regard themselves as part of it... which I do, as a former member of the International Meteoritical Society among other things.

And there, you learned something. The Peekskill meteorite had a calculated impact velocity of 164 miles per hour, supported by multiple camera recordings of its trajectory.

BC1969,I don,t know if you mean my post but what I meant was that the object was said to have been found in Malaysia, did it hit the truck there too? What is this container that was spoken of?What exactly is the object suspected to be?Sounds like something may be getting lost in the translation. No attempt to disrespect any one here, just genuinely confused!I have nothing to add as to what it is.but would like to know.Thank you and again no smart assing meant from me!

None of what I said was directed towards you.
Sorry I forgot to quote in a couple of places.

As far as your rock goes, I don't see any regmaglypts in the photos you posted.
I've never seen a smooth meteorite.
Doesn't mean it can't happen.
There are some basic tests that you can do at home to test if it may be worth further investigation.
I can provide resources if you need.

Most so called meteorites found by people turn out to be meteorWrongs..

BC,thanks.I really didn,t take it that way, just wanted to make certain. It,s not my rock,I,d just like to know what the OP thinks it is and about this container mentioned. Also Malaysia and the bonged truck.if I ever find a suspected meteorite I,ll give you a shout

BC1969,

Definitely agree with Red-Coat. Each object has its own terminal velocity which is determined by a number of factors like mass, drag co-efficient, projected area, air density (big one for Baumgartner), and gravitational acceleration. Many lifetimes ago when I was conducting Military Freefall as part of my job we would go into a standing on our head position, basically head down and arms spread back along our body when we were looking to pick up speed/terminal velocity. You could definitely tell the difference between this position than when you fell flat, dumb, and happy. The following is a good link to determine terminal velocity for an object. https://www.gigacalculator.com/calculators/terminal-velocity-calculator.php

Good luck with your hunts. Walt

Was he driving under an overpass at the time, and were there kids standing on it?

One possibility not discussed is that it might be volcanic. From 2010? Mount Sinabung erupted early this morning, spewing clouds of grey smoke and ash and rocks 5,000 meters into the sky. ..

I agree, kinda looks like this obsidian glob I found in the Nevada desert.
