Hi all, I had a good weekend of hunting. Saturday was spent in the mountains looking for good coin spots like old wide spots on trails where they would stop and rest after coming up the mountain also cross roads are productive.
My self and hikenmtns was on our third mountain with nothing to show . Our last spot on the map did not look like much but as soon as I put my coil down I dug a Japanese aluminum coin .
Not bad ,I am happy with any thing. I got a very weak signal and then I lost it. After kicking some soil back I got the signal again. I dug down about a foot and there was what I thought was a stone covering the signal. I started prying the stone and it broke , It turned out to be an old ceiling tile and under it was pot . It took a bit and the pot was broke but I was able to recover 3 quarters of it. Inside the pot were 7 coins. The dates range between 1670 and 1750.
One of my favorite finds for sure.
I hit the beach today and scored two 18k and a 14k so it has been a good weekend. :headbang:
Thanks for looking and hh.

That is Great!...I would love to know the stroy behind that!...Killer FINDS!!!

Traditional Japanese Funeral - Wikipedia

Not exactly what you found but could be related somehow.

Items—such as a white kimono, a pair of sandals, six coins for crossing the River of Three Crossings, and burnable items of which the deceased was fond (for example, cigarettes and candy) are placed in the casket, which is then put on an altar for the wake.

MT Joe, that is very intersting. No bones found though but the coins might have been some type of offering.

Excellent finds but the cache is my favorite. Jewelry comes and goes, but I'm still looking for my first cache. finding one in another country is just icing on the cake. Congratulations.

Trent, that is really cool. The little coin stash in the old pot really makes you wonder. Gold is great, and you have been fining a lot of it in Korea!

Birdman...you're killin' me. For someone like me these are lifetime finds and you're knocking them out in a weekend!

Great Stuff...Rich

WC, I am usually the one looking at other peoples digs wishing I were digging the same stuff. Just lucky lately and burning a lot of fuel to get to different spots..

You sure are putting in the time! Great finds! :icon_thumleft:

Great finds! Must have given you a thrill when you discovered the pot and coins. The rings are beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us! Tell hikenmtns "hi" and I would like to join you guys in a mountain hunt. Unfortunately, I've been having back problems and can't walk far on flat ground, let alone mountains.

Anyway, congratulations on the great finds!

Birdman, I see that my Dad has you hooked ;) I can't wait to get back there.

TJ, Your dad is like an indian guide in these mountains. He really knows the hills and how to read the trails. His collection is museum quality also. Yea he has me hooked on all terrain mountain hunting.:occasion14:

Sounds like a good luck sacrifice made many moons ago.if anyone familiar with old Chinese traditions could confirm this it would be appreciated.

Robbers were known to hide out on the trails and seek a tribute to pass,I wonder if that had anything to do with the buried money.. Just one of those things to wonder about. :icon_scratch:
