Got out today with my buddy bill. Started out slow and then ended up with a few mercs, 19 wheats and very unexpected 2 toasted walking liberty halves! A 6 silver day! 😎. Was an absolutely beautiful day out to and it was good to meet up with Don and Greg at the end. Thanks for looking and hh!! I guess these were assaulted by salt water ? Nice finds anyway ! I'm always offended by how badly the salt affects silver , it really bothers me for some reason , I know it's just chemistry - but I'm angry about it ! I can't get over it ...

Holy crap. Talking a walk twice. That’s incredible!
thank you! It was fun for sure!

thanks, but not salt water. They both were in ashy dirt that was under water. Fresh water. I'm guessing the Ash and water had that nasty effect on them

Wow Chris, that’s awesome.

Go sit in the car. Two Walkers, ouch.

I can’t be sure, but they look like they have been in a fire. Silver coins that have been in salt water for hundreds of years come out with a crusty layer and are black with tarnish, but do not normally get eaten up like that. They can be sand scrubbed and scratched up by rocks and sand depending on the beach conditions. The fact you found them with ash makes me think they melted some in a fire.

Just my opinion. Still cool that you found a good bunch of silvers. 2 walkers at one time is great.

Keep swingin.

Oh sure!!! Don't see you for a very short while and you just throw me over for new buddies!!!:BangHead:

Any chance those poor excuses for walkers might be counterfeits?:icon_scratch:

They've sure been thru the wringer!

Still, a great walk!

Killer hunt, congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Awesome! Man those 50c pieces look like hell :)

Nice finds Chris. Looks like they maybe got torched

Nice bunch of silvers. Congrats!

Killer finds!!!! I'm betting some type of fire as well! At least you know what you found! Awesome job! :icon_thumleft:
