Hello Everyone,

Yesterday, I went out detecting with my bud, Mike(oknorom), to a new, old Barrio park. I'm sure this was considered a tough park at one time. Just look at all the ammunition I found there.

Well, I did something that I'm not sure I'll ever duplicate. I found what amounts to a 6 silver day with only 5 total silver coins found. How can this happen, you say? This park was notorious for digging up cut coins. Mike and I were finding lots of cut memorials, clad, and wheaties everywhere. Those darn lawnmowers. >:( Well, for once, the lawnmower actually helped my silver count. Has anyone ever found a cut silver coin? I have quite a few of them this year. When I found the first half of a '50 Rosie, I thought nothing of it. Great, another chopped up Rosie. I was thinking to myself, "if only I could find the other half". Wouldn't you know it. About 7 ft from where I dug the first half rosie, I get a good signal, and dig up its matching half. :o What are the chances? After discussing it with Mike, and later, Curt(Bibleman) and Mike(ratman), they all felt that it should count as 2 separate silver finds. Yippee!! ::)

So, not a bad day at all. Great hunting with you again Mike. We survived another day in the Barrio.

Thanks for looking, and Happy Hunting......just 7 more!!

Congrats on the silver and half dimes, LOL! HH, Mike

Hey, buddy, indeed, that should count as two wilvers! That is a cool find! That cut was perfect though, when you look at it. I am thinking someone cut it, instead of a lawnmower.

At the rate you are going now, you should hit 630 this year! :o That is impressive! I think Minelab should make you their "poster boy." You deserve to be on every Minelab magazine cover! Heck, you deserve to be on their homepage as well. You are that good!

Keep finding wilver, bud!

Captn, I would definitely count those as two silvers. After all, you had to dig a second hole to find the other half, right?

I feel a lucky seven coming up for you soon. . . 8)

HH!

Nice silvers Captn, Seven more should be no problem. Good luck and HH!

Great finds and really cool story!

That cut does look pretty clean for a lawnmower, it's suprising but I may have to agree with Kirk PA on this one. :o ;D

Take care,

Lonnie

maybe the place was a place folks could go shoot at in the past --- maybe that why theres high lead count --- or it was indeed one rough area -- look like 45 cal leads kinda big gun for a stick up man --- most like smaller easier to hide guns

It wasn't that hard, right? ;) :D

Nice coins. The way I see it Dan is that you found 2 half dimes. If you haven't found a half dime before brother...then you can cross that coin off your list as you now have TWO. ;D
Good digs.

Nice silver,

I'd count it as 2 dug silvers. Hey the chances of finding the other half was very slim. But you found it. Those mowers must have been cutting real low or were very sharp. Those cuts are clean.

Dan,
That is so cool. Congrats on the Gangster Park silver. ;D

I'm new to TNet, but I've MDing for a few years and I'm still looking for my first silver no matter
what shape it's in.
Great finds!!

Welcome aboard, 999slvrfx!! Looks like you have a good machine. If you know you're in an old area, there's bound to be silver there. Swing slow, and listen for those deep targets. If you start digging wheat pennies, you have a very good chance at finding some silver. Hang in there.

;D I can see it on Minelab's web page now: Capten_SE Hit's the 600 Silver Mark for the year! Dan, of So. Cal risk his life and limbs for the ever elusive silver coins of yesteryear in the Parks of the worst Barrio's of So. Cal.
Happy Hnting Dan and good luck on the final count!!!!!!!

I agree also with KirkPA on that dime being a perfect cut for a lawnmower. If it were a mower cut, I would think that it would be mangled up a bit. Still looks good though.
