Hit an old site today and the first oldie was a 1953 D wheat. Not long after that I dug a nice 1852 silver three cent piece! That is my third one and all of them are the same year! It is the smallest US silver coin made. The only smaller coin is the $1.00 gold coin. The next target I dug and only a few minutes later was an 1857 Flying Eagle cent! Now I am very happy as that is a first for me. Been trying to add that one to my list for years! WOOO HOOO!!!
Where I dug these two coins, my buddy asked me what did I miss? You see had had detected that very spot the night before. I almost didn'y have the heart to tell him! We took a break from the rain and when we came back it started to rain again after we were detecting for a bit. So on the way out I was trolling for a good beep when I got one. Out pops an 1891 Indian head. My buddy said he had dug around in that spot for 20 minutes. Pretty good 6 cents in my book! I guess I got a penny trifecta also!
Sure had fun!
