First off, happy 4th of July to all of my fellow treasure hunters.
There’s a local church that does a big July4th event every year. It’s a fundraiser for them and it’s very Norman Rockwell like. Typical New England small town thing. My wife and I have always done well over the years at the jewelry sale and flea market sale and this year was no exception. Picked up several small 14k earrings and a very small baby’s bracelet all for $10.00. My wife kept a pair of 14k hoop earrings for herself. The bracelet turned out not to be gold and the stones are fake. No biggie. Next is the flea market finds and that is where we plundered and did very well! First up is two jelly jars with sterling tops-$5.00. Next is a very early painted tea tin -$4.00. Now the good stuff. I picked up the tray at the sale and saw sterling on the back and also noticed a $1.00 price tag!! Yup, one dollar and it weighs in at a hefty 16.045 ozt.
Last but not least is a find my wife had. She picked up this silver and wood piece and saw some hallmarks and thought that it was a good find. Boy was she right. Turns out that it is an English sterling wine bottle trivet made in London by Peter and Ann Bateman, circa 1791. Just an absolute gorgeous piece with mahogany wood. Price.........$1.00!! A permanent part of my collection and now one of my favorites.
Sorry for the long story but it’s been a while since I’ve shared some finds. Happy hunting to all.
